Boy it would be nice to have an AD that knew what they were doing. Just for once.

I have refrained from posting in this thread or emailing Amanda because I really don't think it's a good idea for me to post or say what I am really thinking right now.
I'm so pissed off, it's unbelievable.

Is there any hope of this decision changing?
The idea that we still have a chance is the only thing keeping me just angry and not breaking everything in sight.
As is probably the case for most of us, I'm extremely upset, but can you imagine how some of the players feel right now? Tiby goes from looking forward to ending his career on a potential high note to being told it's all over just like that.
They better have a really good reason for this. I can't come up with one but maybe they have one.
F#CK!

Fellas, let's just hold on for a little while.
Something could still happen here.
There's a lot of support for postseason play. A LOT.

The trip is fully funded. Amanda Braun doesn't want it to happen. Full stop. Doesn't want it to happen as a punishment to the team or because she's planning on firing Jeter? I'm not saying I agree with either, just the only reasons I can (somewhat) logically fathom. Punishment to the team for what? Firing Jeter with what money? The answer to each, Holic, is nothing. This isn't about rhyme or reason. Sent from my SCH-R970 using proboards

Tiby and every kid in this program being told TWICE no tournament for you. This is what has gotten me madder and madder. Great team GPA. These players have done NOTHING but represent UWM with class. They could have taken a swing at GB and the refs but handled their screwing with class. And now this?
My funding will cease. My support of the players won't stop but from the Chancellor on down they lost every ounce of support from me. Our seniors all want to continue playing overseas. What does this say to them and all future players? Come here and get screwed. This isn't a D1 basketball program. NAIA here we come.

It was at least therapeutic sending her an email. uwm-AD@uwm.edu Yes it was. I did and I BCC'd Jeter as well. jeter@uwm.edu He wrote me back in about 10 minutes with a "Thanks for the support".

Two-part question:
1, Are you guys comfortable sharing what you wrote and if so would you please?
2, Did she write anything back?

Greetings Fellow Cheeseheads. Valpo Fan here. We spent our first couple of years in the Horizon League in these secondary tourneys, and those around our program credit it for some of our current success (didn't help us this year!). Having MKE in any tournament is helpful to the entire conference, so i'm perplexed why our conference wouldn't step in here, especially if money isn't an issue. I'm also curious if the Green Bay - Horizon League connection has anything to do with this. I'm sure this is talked about somewhere on this board (I'll admit, i'm too lazy to search) but the Green Bay AD had her placement and contract done by the search firm run by the deputy commish of the HL, Julie Roe Lach, who was in the NCAA head office until being fired over the Miami scandal. This probably has no connection. But regardless, it seems a larger amount of decisions, both school by school and on the conference level, just don't make a whole lot of sense. From insisting on a "neutral" floor for the men's tourney and them handing the women's to GB, to now this.
Even if there's no connection in any of this, terrible move by your AD. Loved watching Tiby, et al, play this year, and I'll be joining you in writing your AD. Best of Luck!

Thanks, my friend. That's exactly one of the things that I will be writing.
These secondary -- or third-tier, if you will -- tournaments have often served as springboards to success for programs like VCU, St. Louis, Oregon and Tulsa.
With our very limited postseason history, we're just not in a position to turn them down.
As I've said here many, many times before: we're not Duke, North Carolina or Kansas.

Was that a travel or a Horizon League pivot?

I wish that Amanda would come out of her bunker and explain her apparent decision.
I fear that she won't say anything publicly until Sunday night or Monday morning, when it will be too late.
For the record, "This team doesn't deserve to play in a postseason tournament" is not an acceptable answer. Only 111 teams in the nation have at least 20 wins ... and we can't control our schedule like so many of them.
In other words, there are at modest count 200 among the nation's 351 programs that "don't deserve to go the postseason" ahead of us. In fact, fold all these postseason tournaments as they shouldn't even exist!
This reminds me of the old Dave Begel diatribes. Fold our athletics program after you've folded another 1,000 at various levels across the country. They operate at more of a deficit and have far less on-field success than we do.
The last time I checked, we were No. 165 in the Directors' Cup standings. You had better fold all those other 200 programs. Then come back and put the kibosh on ours.
I'm just getting warmed up, baby!
