Just watched a bit of my recording of the game. The officials blew the call on the foul called on Matt just before halftime. There was no foul contact. Then when Matt asked what he did they T'd him. Classic case of an official knowing he screwed up and overreacting. A 2 point OU possession turned into a 5 point possession. We lost by 3 points. Those two fouls on Matt also cost us 10 minutes of play from him in a one possession game in which we were already missing Akeem. Draw your own conclusions.
As someone asked me at halftime, why do we always seem to get homered in our own gym?

well, we held Felder under 20...that's...something... We actually defended K very well after the first few minutes of each half. Man he's talented. Our guy is pretty damn good too. Lyle completely shut him down. He scored the first 8 points of the game, then managed 9 the rest of the way and fouled out with what, 3 minutes left, with JR drawing multiple offensive fouls. It was incredible defense.

Problem is for Tiby, you can't yell with your arms out and show up an ref. Many saw that T coming a mile away.

How does Patrick Adams know whether Matt is upset with him or mad at himself?
It seems like the Horizon League has hired its officials from the Psychic Friends Network.

Sure, I understand that, but actually by Matt's standards that wasn't close to yelling, and as others have noted, compared to K Felder's display after fouling out it was nothing. The official needed to be just a little thicker skinned there. I thought the officials were actually pretty good throughout the game. They didn't jack 33 threes or force Austin to miss that open opportunity that would have tied the game. But in a game this good, this tight and this crucial it was a shame to have such an unnecessarily pivotal play. It doesn't matter now. Move on to Green Bay. We have seven losses total, and five of them are by one score or in OT. You hate to lose those opportunities but it's obvious our guys will keep fighting to the end of every game. I think that will pay dividends the rest of the year.

How does Patrick Adams know whether Matt is upset with him or mad at himself? It was plain of day in what was going on.

I was told that Matt merely inquired what he did that warranted a foul call and he was T'd up for being insolent.
Oh well, let's move on. Thanks a lot, Horizon League!

Felder doesn't get one for yelling and stomping his feet after he picked up his 5th foul. Couldn't agree more.

I do recall one situation, when the crowd was being vocal, where Kampe was clearly having trouble hearing the ref's explanation. In those situations, I can understand him approaching the ref, and if the rules say the coach is not to be on the court, the ref should make an effort to approach the coach to make sure he hears what the ref is saying. But there were other times when Kampe was two or three steps out on the court, and did not get even a warning.

I wholeheartedly agree with what others have said prior....less Austin and more Cody. Cody played very well tonight on both offense and defense I thought. I don't get what happened to Austin this season thus far...
Tough game though, the Tiby foul and T was the game-changer. Not only was it a 5 point swing, but Matt was then playing with foul trouble and barely played at all the 2nd half due to that. 'Keem being out was huge as well. But, enough with the excuses....Milwaukee had there chances to win this game. On to the next one...can't wait for the GB game on Friday already.

Big plus was maybe the most vocal student section in years. Well done and see you Friday students!

I thought the student section was outstanding! Had to be about 700. All standing. Cheering.

With regard to Horizon League referees, it seems true that The Panthers are not getting swing calls that change momentum. Even when calls are made they seem ticky tacky. So many times this year Jordan will drive and dish and get the foul and that is when Austin hits a three. In this game He dished to Tiby for a dunk but Jordan goes to the line on what I would say was a no call. Sure 2 point is two point but the big mo is halted. We finnally had good student support and we are watching a free throw contest. Tough to lose home games because of a couple of calls. Anyway this team plays hard. Agree Austin is not letting game come to him. He is not square when he shoots and is line driving his shot. Needs to arch his shot. Tell coach he needs to arch his shot by at least two feet. Look at Steph Curry, it is all about arch. Hire a shooting coach, Pat Miller is in town and will work cheap if no one on staff will work with Austin. Seriously, a year layoff is tough I am sure Austin will have a terrific senior year.
