Missed free throws lost this game. WHEN WILL THIS TEAM LEARN?!?!? We've been asking this question for a long time now. I'm gonna go with never. I could go outside in the cold and shoot free throws in the dark better then this team...

These will be Auburn's 35th and 36th free throws. We have 14 We'd just miss the free throws anyway.

We may have only had 14 free throw attempts but how many 1 and 1's did we miss the front end of? Two in the 1st half and three in the 2nd half? We gave away a lot of attempts on front end misses tonight.

Once again, I'm so proud of this team.
I believe we finished the game with only five members of our regular rotation still eligible.
Just fought like hell.

Springs should be the starting 2-guard even if he can't shoot 3s. 21/7/3 against an SEC team.

People still look for reasons to blame Jeter, after an NCAA tournament season. Insane. This team has too many hypocrite fans.
First game of the season, down a starter, with 5 new players seeing floor time, on the road, against a major conference team, with the refs against us. What a horrible loss.

Free throws aren't something you really coach. He just seems to put no basis in it when it comes to recruiting or practice. I can't come up with any other explanation for it. I see no hypocrisy in giving valid analysis of the game.

UWM was 52nd nationally in free throw percentage last year. It's a lunatic criticism.

43% from the line is an aberration even for a poor free throw shooting team. This game means nothing aside from being good experience.

I completely agree. Since we can't go to the tournament anyway the non-conference schedule is essentially all practice and fun this year.
Our usual years of shooting in the 60s from the line though have cost us too many games over the years.
Missed free throws are probably my biggest pet peeve when it comes to the sport of basketball. Misses drive me absolutely crazy because they are easy shots.

And the final margin was greater than the points lost at the line anyway. I'm fine with this performance. We absolutely torched them, got great bench minutes, and defended very well until every possession resulted in a tic-tac foul.

This isn't a sixth-place team with Austin Arians.

We absolutely torched them, got great bench minutes, and defended very well until every possession resulted in a tic-tac foul. That's not entirely true because of the missed front ends. If we make those we attempt a few more FTs tonight. I think we've spent enough time on this topic though so I'll just leave it at that. Great effort tonight and I expect a nice season coming up. It was also nice to see Pearl coaching again.
