Almost a decade ago, as the "Pearl" run was ending, the University did, bluntly, a very poor job of leveraging the success of the team. There are a lot of reasons for that, but things very quickly stalled. No matter the outcome of our NCAA game(s),we need to do a better job of taking advantage this time. Fortunately, there are some things already happening that should assist. It's clear now that we will be at the Cell for the foreseeable future, and with the recent announcement that the Cell scoreboard and seating will be upgraded, that's good. We may soon be getting some outside marketing assistance. And plans for a basketball practice facility are real. That won't happen right away, but it's not long in coming.
From the team's perspective, I fully expect our coaching staff to return, and this success validates their ability and their recruiting strategy. We have largely taken Wisconsin players, filled in with guys here and there, and reached the tournament with them. We recruit good guys. We could use another big and another point next year (and we still have two schollies available). The happiest guy on the staff right now must be Chad, because he's got some incredible pictures to send to the guys we have been talking to. And Wisconsin high school players -- look no further than Kyle, Austin, Steve and Cody. You don't need to go to the Dakotas or a second tier MoVal team to be successful. You don't need to sit on the bench at a high major. You don't need to spend your college years in someplace just down the road from noplace. It's cooler by the lake.
From the fans' perspective, yeah, things were rough with the bad year last year and the unfortunate move to the Klotsche and the revolving door in the AD's office. That's all done. Come back! Promise yourself that you will buy season tickets next year. Don't miss what's going to be another exciting Panther team. The Cell is going to be rocking!
For the first time in a while it's easy to feel optimistic. Let's embrace it. Let's go for it. This program was a comatose giant. Time to wake up.

That's exactly what I was referring to, Hack. In all the excitement I missed the announcement. FrontRow's job just got a heck of a lot easier.

Getting this tourney bid will hopefully give Milwaukee a surge in money from Alumni. Money and winning in this case could cure quite a bit.

You people can celebrate in this victory right now, and it so well deserved by that team, the players, the coaches and all of you who have supported this Men's basketball team this past season, but you have no idea how messed up the athletic department still is and how this AD has tried to undermine this program throughout the season. Trust me ....no idea. To the point that largest corporate supporters want nothing to do with the department and the AD. It needs to be investigated ....people have NO idea what Jeter has accomplished and what he had to fight internally again without any support. Listen to a certain news talk host in the late afternoon when he indicated that if Milwaukee would have lost to Detroit or Valpo the 'management' there was in the process to get rid of Rob.

Oh, a couple here have a good idea. Some more have an idea from those few, and others have a sense. Personally I feel, Jeter takes this opportunity to leave it all behind and bolts for a better opportunity.

Personally I feel, Jeter takes this opportunity to leave it all behind and bolts for a better opportunity. Bingo. That didn't take long for someone to say it. Why wouldn't he? Everyone on this board has all but hanged Rob Jeter in effigy (whilst somehow expecting a mid-major program with 1/5 to 1/7 the budget of other programs who invest in their basketball programs- to be a perennial Big Dance participant?). I'm optimistic. I've no ill will toward everyone who (even after this dramatic turnaround) want Jeter gone like the wind....). But be carefuul what you wish for.... Ric Cobb 2.0 could be getting introduced this Summer.... Just saying... I would be very happy if Jeter and staff stayed on and kept these recruits (Wichmann, Trinson White, the Prahl twins, Panoske, JR Lyle, Arians, McWhorter... and oh yeah- MATT TIBY a.k.a. "Sasquatch" (who still has 2 more years of eligibility left!)- not to mention other recruits we could get after such an awesome turnaround season. "Please Rob, just do us a favor and resign". Why did you delete that wise-crack tag-line from your signature mcdadenets50? Should NU fire Fitz for last season's late flop? Sometimes you have to take the long-view and just be optimistic that the unexpected can happen (it just did- and there hasn't been uwmfreak board activity like this since 2005 or 2006..). I've no ill will toward the Negative Nancy bunch... I just wish peple would hold off on writing off teams half-way through the season. WE MADE IT. WE ARE DANCING. ANYTHING ELSE FROM HERE ON OUT IS JUST ICING ON THE CAKE. But man would it be nice to find and slip on our 2005 Sweet 16 Cinderella shoe again.... Whomever we face in the 1st Rd. (Syracuse, Kansas, whoever)- is going to overlook us. Just like 'Bama in '05 and OK in '06..... WE ARE DANCING. Let's enjoy it and hope we can make a bit further of a run. But please- do know- if Jeter stays, it will be the most loyal decision I've seen in my following of NCAA Hoops since 1990. Jeter is as good as gone (hope I'm wrong)- but the way this fan base has treated him in between 2006 and 2011 and since 2011 until now? I would advise him to leave- the vast majority of our "base" has been treating him like sh*t. Not saying middling hoops is acceptible... But this isn't Duke. This isn't Marquette. This isn't UW-Madison. This is MILWAUKEE.. I hope the staff stays (Jeter esp.) and that our recruiting is not impacted and our current roster stays intact. Even without Jay-O, Kelm and Malcolm- this is a program on the rise..... Not one who should "do us a favor and fire the head coach". Ironically, Jeter is going to be doing to separation of employment- and though the Crow Pie is sweet.... It'll be several more (3-5) years for us to get back to the Dance if that happens. Here's to hoping for a great run and that Jeter can ignore those who pilloried him and his staff all season and stay in Milwaukee as Pearl did after the great seasons of '02-'03 and '03-'04. We gotta keep this program on the upswing and I still believe Jeter is the best coach we can have (the grass is always greener....). But all that aside (I understand people doubted Jeter would ever "win with his own players" (just did- BOOM))- I just want to see us represent the H-League well in the NCAA Tourney. We will likely be huge underdogs in the 1st Rd.- but we stil have 40 minutes to make some national noise. GO PANTHERS!!!! BEAT __________? (Kansas?)!!!!

It is unlikely, from what has been posted that we will have to play in Dayton in the first round, but if we do, why in the name of God would we be huge underdogs. Other than that I agree (and have agreed) with all of what you say.
