No, it's what's good for the goose is good for the gander. Bingo! I'm sure I didn't make myself clear. This team as stated by jeter (lowercase for intensity purposes has lacked 'leadership' and most importantly 'passion'. This is why I stated the saying as it referred to coach being a hypocrite as it refers to his character. Leadership. Passion. The fight!

Yawn. As you stated previously, "Why does it matter"?

Yawn. As you stated previously, "Why does it matter"? In all seriousness, I think that Jeter often demonstrates the passion of a wet noodle. Frankly, I've never understood how someone holding what so many of us would consider a dream job isn't more overtly animated toward his players and isn't more authoritative in his public comments. The Green Bay game was something of an aberration in that the team appeared both prepared and motivated to meet the challenge of playing an opponent with superior talent. I've long since given up trying to figure out how a team with only 30 or so games on the schedule has the four or five annual gong games that this one does. Let's hope that we've seen the last of these, but I'm not holding my breath.

My main issue with Jeter's game demeanor other than his abysmal ability to call timeouts at the proper timeand prepare his team to get a decent shot off an inbounds play particularly at the end of the game is his immature attitude which I think rubs off on the team. Working the refs is one thing but the "poor me" attitude , grimacing, pouting, staring, sitting down, shaking his head etc goes beyond most coaches I have watched like Stevens, Waters and others. These guys get ticked yes but it is different. At time outs Jeter at times appears angry and detached. While he is separate from his players or grimacing at the officials literally at the same time the other huddle's head coach already has his clip board out and is immediately coaching up the players. To me sometimes it sends players the wrong message, ie, poor us, we got screwed but have to overcome rather than being more focused and business like. Seen it too many times and I think is one factor why we seldom beat teams equal or better than us in key games. Seem to find a way to not get it done or come close.. I keep hearing about our so called championship season three years ago. IT WAS NOT!!! We shared a 3 way regular season title and were not conference champions because someone else beat us and we did not go to the NCAA as conference rep. We are eight years out from dancing (and that was with others recruits) and starting to forget what that was like. All this being said I am greatly enjoying the season and I think the team is fun to watch and competitive. Always a chance once HL tourney comes to catch lightning and sneak in a championship although UWGB looks very solid. Great being back at the Cell and while Geiger almost tanked the program by the KC debacle we will steadily build attendance back over time. I do think so called negative trolls like myself did a service to the program by loudly and strongly calling it like it was on the KC move. We cared enough to raise cane rather than sucking up and saying the KC was great and lets all not call it like it was,,,unsustainable and a disaster. Program not served that way but heck, some of the apologists no longer post on this "negative board". I am a bit along these lines with Jeter. Call it like it is...program is more important. We should be doing better and lets have the courage at some point in next couple years if we do not get to the dance once on his watch with his players to make the courageous decision to move on.

Agree with you fully.

I'm sure that he showed more intensity when he went to these kids homes and begged for there signatures.

"I'm sure that he showed more intensity when he went to these kids' homes and beyond for their signatures."
Not sure about that.
Jeter: "We're going to play some high-level teams, Luke, but that's only to get us ready for league play. As a matter of fact, we think you'd be a really nice fit for our level."
Recruit: "Uh, OK. Thanks, I think?"

Paul,
bingo....I loved the article on Matt Tiby in the JS but bothered a bit by the comments that he is probably "above our level" but we got him anyway...I don't know sometimes....just seems tone deaf or not too smart oftentimes from oru staff especially Head Coach. I just want to go to the Dance and not real confident with this staff but do feel that this year we could catch lightning in a bottle if someone knocks off UWGB early on in the HL tourney before we might get them again if we advance. Could happen and I like this team with Tiby, McWhorter, etc...Steve

I could not agree more. Something tells me that Creighton, Gonzaga, St. Mary's, Butler, VCU, Wichita State, etc etc etc etc did not get to where they are now by thinking of themselves as "on our level". Attitude is everything when you are (trying to) lead young men in a sport like this. And if this staff, and athletic department as a whole, has proven any one single thing to me in the last nine years, it's that they all view "our level" as something other than where this team was in 2005.
