Classic Rob Jeter pissed away game.
Up 4 and we don't even attempt a single shot in the final minute of regulation.

Alec Brown was getting away with murder that whole game. How HONESTLY could the refs NOT call an over-the-back??? It was obvious to all but 3 in the whole arena...
And what was Jordan thinking driving against 3 guys twice his size at the end??? Try your jumper, at least!

Great game to see! Tough at the end not getting a shot off. Lack of screens to free up JO.

Keifer Sykes is conference MVP. No doubt in my mind. The guy just floats and has so much touch he could shoot a baby through the basket without waking it up. Man. I am still dumbfounded by how fricken good he played.
Alec Brown had at the least 9-10 fouls in the game. At the LEAST. They probably would have allowed the guy to punch a baby and get away with it. Cuz he damn sure punched Steve in the face (might have been Jordan).
The thing that bugged me is how many game changing calls the refs blew. They call one or two of those horrendous calls/no-calls differently we very well could have won the game in regulation. Actually, i am pretty damn sure we would have.
Our guys played lights out in the second half. All 5 starters in double digits, 2 with more than 20. Big bench contributions, Kyle played outstanding (got tired in OT) even tho his points didnt show it. He was so clutch in regulation when we really needed it. Jordan and Austin couldnt miss. Hell in that stretch I would be damned if we missed more than 2 or 3 shots.
Here are my issues though. Defense, defense, defense. On the defensive end of the court you can tell we severely lack an understanding of how to guard certain types of plays. GB had to have had at least a third of their points from guys going under the basket out of sight and getting buckets from under there. I don't know if we were running the 2-3 zone too high or if guys just aren't in the right spots or maybe they are lacking vision. I don't know. But it shows majorly. And my big concern is that no adjustments were made to really stop it.
That, mixed with losing track of guys in the corners getting short jumpers, and all the points we allowed in the lane, as well as the stretches of absolutely abysmal defensive rebounding, killed us.
Overall, I am very impressed with how we played. I think that we played at an extremely high level and high energy in the second half and if we hadn't been so worn out (especially kyle, man it showed) we very well could have won that game. Hopefully Jeter steps up and better prepares the guys to play against them at their court.
Oh, another big plus for me. Some of the plays we ran (I KNOW! I was shocked we ran actual well drawn up plays too. And frequently I might add) were sexy as all get out. That screen and drop play steve scored on was damn fine. And there were quite a few others that I was really impressed with as well. If we stop having streaks of dribbling around doing nothing we could actually be a pretty damn good team.

Green Bay is nothing without Alec Brown and his NBA treatment by the refs. If you take that out of the equation then this is an easy win. I think we will beat them when it counts. And if we can take the best team in the horizon to OT and lose a close one, we are going to be OK.

Inadvertent arms around the face are going to happen when 5'10" guys are always hacking at him. And I'm not sure he got NBA treatment if he didn't shoot 1 free throw. Hey gets fouled a lot that don't get called so it goes hand in hand. Tough loss for Milwaukee considering all the shots they were hitting the 2nd half. I'll be at the next GB-MIL game, can't wait!

Kiefer Sykes was a 27% 3-point shooter coming into today. So there you go.
We'll take the return trip. Rob is still very bad at timeouts but this team is very good.

We need to bring an army to the game in Green Bay.
BTW this was the best game in the rivalry since Kaylon Williams' salute. This is what rivalries are about. I loved today except the result.

Why the hell does Rob sit down damn near the whole game. Did he have double knee constructive surgery? It's getting really old!

Both teams are very good and played that way. I'm sure the next time will be a dog fight too. I would love to seee Aaron and Sykes on the same team. I see the confrence spreading out after the big 3. 1.GB 2.UWM or CSU 3.CSU or UWM 4-9 could be any of the teams depending on who's get's hot that day. But a big difference between 3 and everyone else.

I don't regret losing today. The crowd was the biggest, most intense I've seen at a UWM game since the championship 3 years ago and both teams were excellent. And for once, a UWM/UWGB game felt important. I sincerely hope these teams play in the final.

That was a fun game to be at. That struggle in the second half was more so discouraging because I was at the game, and Jordan was shooting out of his mind. Was literally getting lucky with that long range, it was impressively crazy (wish Keif would have hit that really long one that he took.). But the Nix battled back incredibly well. I love the fight I saw in everyone. Keifer just wouldn't let it happen and Alec had a great overtime period. His open court foul was garbage. But it was quite the comeback. With Al McKinnie this game isn't even close. Also need to stop these slow starts, but they clearly play better when trailing. Wasn't pretty, but I'll take an overtime road win any day of the week.
Side note, there was one UWM fan, older fellow that was trying to heckle Wardle. My god that guy was a moron.
Also, those who are crying and complaining about AB getting this "NBA treatment" and having "at least 10 fouls", you've gotta be kidding me. His open court foul was BS. He doesn't get an NBA treatment. There's no such thing as an over the back foul, that's only in the NBA, there has to be contact for it to be a foul. Can't penalize the guy for being tall, you gotta be kidding me. If anything UWM got away with hacking him.
