I agree, I think we should keep this series going even if it is 3 for 1. Agreed. You need this series in its current configuration in order to gain legitimacy. -- signed Butler, George Mason, Gonzaga, VCU and Wichita State

Not good for the ego: Oakland barely lost to #5 MSU, 67-63... At home. We don't get blown out by the Badgers at The Cell... period. Makes a big difference playing at the Kohl Center - ask any team that's visited there in the last how many years? There's a reason the Badgers play basically every non-conference game at home or at a neutral site. Because they aren't that good without the home crowd advantage. The only two road games for them so far were Green Bay (won by 3) and Virginia (scored 48 pts). So while the fact that Oakland kept pace with an in-state team (ranked in the top 5) at home is impressive... I don't think the Panthers would have had a much different result if the game on Wednesday were played in Milwaukee.

Gary Harris wasn't playing for MSU and that's 17 points per game they were missing. Imagine if UW didn't have Ben Brust. Also the game was not at Oakland, it was at the Palace.
"I'm disappointed we, a team with a KemPom and RPI ranking over 100 and a SOS over 300, were not competitive with the #4 team in the nation in their own building where Bo Ryan's career home winning percentage against unranked nonconference opponents was 91-4" appears to be a real and prevalent mentality on this board, disconcertingly.
For what it's worth we shot 46% in the second half to UW's 42%, held them to 9 free throws all game (big ups to those refs, they were fantastic. With a different crew Nigel Hayes might have fouled out), and if you remove points off turnovers from the equation we lost by just 7 points. I don't expect us to turn the ball over like that ever again, and in a game where we aren't throwing the ball out of bounds on the fly all the time that's a 10-15 point loss.

Oakland also opened up their season against UNC, UCLA, Cal, and Gonzaga. So they had more experience against an opponent like that then we did.

Not sure if this will be well received but I think I know: end the damn series with UW! Despite the Klotsche Center game in 12/27/01 (UW 81- MKE 79) and that great game at the Kohl 12/15/05 (UW 74- MKE 68),we haven't even been close. No shame, UW is in a different stratosphere when it comes to recruits, competition played, etc... I just don't see any value in playing UW anymore other than it is a close game and mitigates travel expenses for the program. I hate to be a stickler, but the 2011 game at The Cell(UW 60-MKE 54) was a damn good game too. I don't necessarily disagree with ending the series though. I forgot about that one, thanks S.O.B. Seems every time we play them, with the rare exception, we are outclassed every where on the court. Tired of watching it!!!

This one is easy for me to brush off.
Our sweet sixteen team (2004-2005) lost to an unranked UW team by 29 points (we only managed to put up 37 total points). Ed McCants scored 5pts. and Adrian Tigert had 2pts. in 30 minutes. UW always seems to have our number. We will improveā¦..

If we could only make our frick'n FREE!! throws.

If it is a 3 for 1, this is the first year, so it would end in '16.

Just for comparisons sake, teams like North Dakota, Bowling Green, and Eastern Kentucky all played UW closer than we did this year. Now I know you think your post was clever, but what is really disconcerting to me is that we have fans that are just fine with us not being competitve AT ALL with Uw-madison, year after year, despite being ok with us playing them on their homecourt 75% (or more) of the time. Honest (and relevant) question, and you don't have to answer it if you don't want to, but are you a Badger basketball fan?

so basically the current contract is still 3-1 ending in 2015? Yes, it's a 3-1, but I don't know exactly what year it ends, or began. After looking more into it and discussing it with Dylan, I'm not even sure it's the second of two 3-for-1's, but instead may still be the first one, following the 7-for-2 that we definitely did have (the 7-2 was reported by the Journal Sentinel a few years ago). I'm sure there's people on here that know the details of our past, and current, contract lengths with uw-madison... if they wanted to pipe in. Maybe a former athletic department employee like mupanther?

When I started working in Milwaukee , in '99, I followed Marquette. When Marquette left Conference USA I started mainly following UWM. I am primarily interested in watching good basketball teams. If we lose 3 games in Madison to get a chance to win a game here, so be it.

Sorry, but I just don't think this is what's best for growing our program. Which is why you'll never find any of the programs that are considered "top" or "competitive" mid-majors playing any series like this. Just my honest opinion, as you are entitled to yours.
