It was a decent run late but we just couldn't get a stop when we really needed one. THe two times we actually did stop them we let them get the offensive board.
Poor 2nd half play cost us this game.

Got outrebounded again which is why we lost but the score doesn't reflect the game; DePaul scored at least 10 in the final minute on free throws and only missed 1 from the line in that stretch and we missed some bunnies. To our credit we made them earn it by keeping them out of the double bonus but they converted all of their one-and-ones. They simply couldn't miss in the second half, but I don't think there's a team in the horizon league that would have shot the ball like that, nor do I think DePaul themselves will go through many streaks like that this year either.
Jordan Aaron should not be starting, but behind him what is there? I feel like Malcolm Moore, who played well again, deserves big minutes so maybe Arians could see some time at the 2-guard? Lyle and Niang are doing nothing offensively (but Bobo had some nice assists tonight).

Depaul 9-18 from 3 Milwuakee 7-25 from 3
The Panthers need to be a team to pound it inside way more.

Kelm played well, but we need more then one rebound from him.

Small crowd in Goolsby's, and also in the Cell'. May be Purnell's best DePaul team. Also could be the best DePaul team since LeTaio left. Most analysis of the game, that I have read on this site, seems spot on.

Jeter knew the team went 3 happy in the first half, and it was nice to see them start to drive again. I'm losing patience with the feast or famine of Jordan Aaron and think Malcolm needs more minutes.
Also, the way DePaul shot in the first part of the second half, that's hard for anyone to come back to. Also, this team REALLY got sloppy in the middle of the second half and at the end. Still alot of positive things that makes me optimistic for the rest of the season, especially when it gets serious in January.

DePaul was just too good to start the 2nd half, and to end the game for that matter. Tough to make a run when you keep trading baskets.
I noticed a team that looked tired, which was my main concern going into tonight. Playing 4 games in 5 days is a lot to ask from these guys. At one point in the game, Tiby was yanking on his own jersey while playing defense letting Jeter know he was getting gassed. We had 3 nice games over the weekend, but we had the misfortune of playing a team that was hitting their shots. You can't really help that. And the fact that our guys had 1 day off over the last 5 days didn't help the matter.
We have a few winnable games coming up on Saturday and Tuesday that will hopefully get us back on track. This team is still getting used to playing with one another in game settings, and I'm still optimistic about the rest of the season (especially conference play). I like what I saw from Kelm late in the game.. hopefully they start utilizing his skills down low before the last 5 minutes of the game going forward. I think JJ is a great player and will be very good for us in the next 2 1/2 years, but for right now I want to see Kelm get more playing time. He deserves it and is showing that.

Most games will be "winnable" this year, it's about consistency. If our guards had played anything better than awful offensively we'd have won this game easily, let alone at the level they played against NIU.

Here is what I saw: we stayed two to two with a team that shot 50% from 3 in the first half and 62% from 3 in the second half. Not so much toe to toe in the second half i realize but we lost by 9 to a team that shot lights out. 52% from 3 for the game if memory serves me right.
We also only gave them 15 FT attempts the whole game. And thats including all those FTs when we were fouling to stop the clock. I think it was 8 before the 3 minute mark. Thats a good when we are getting to the line like we were (25 times i think) and only missing 3 times (2 were from an extremely tired arians who usually is clutch). If we keep up this FT shooting with the attempts we are managing that is going to win us a lot of games that we otherwise shouldn't win.
Kyle Kelm played lights out in the second half. Other than rebounding, he ended up with a pretty stellar game. He struggled early but man was he clutch in the 2nd half. We would have lost by more than 20 without him.
Jordan needs to be f***ing told whats up by Jeter. U can tell Jeter is not happy with his chuck a shot mentality but something needs to be done. That first half i wanted to punch something when he was chucking shots with 5 seconds off the shot clock. he can be good for us but if he is going to be as inconsistent as he is they need to be smart shots he is taking. That is the ONLY way i would even consider leaving him in for the minutes he is getting. I would rather have bobo in their not scoring and not taking many shots at all while the bigs and austin do work than have jordan take 20 shots (most sh*tty ones)
Overall i think we were pretty tired. And the fact that this was our 4th game in 5 days against a decent DePaul team and we stayed with them even when they shot like they did makes me very optimistic for this season.

Frontcourt: 18/33, 61 points. Backcourt: 4/21, 10 points. ^^^^THIS EXACTLY. And I'm not sure it's related at all, but did anyone else watching on TV (or in the stands) notice what happened between Jeter and Bobo during the media timeout at 10:06 left in the 2nd half? It was clear on TV that Jeter and Bobo purposely walked into each other as the players on the court returned to the bench to start the timeout, and after Jeter sort of "shoulder bumped" him, they immediately had words for each other. Jeter initially proceeded to ignore Bobo completely and walked away, but Bobo kept talking in Jeter's direction heatedly, which brought Sharif and Tiby over to calm him, and about 7-8 seconds later Jeter stops what he's doing and comes back towards Bobo to say something to him, at which point the cameras cut away. It didn't look good on TV, and what followed on the court was Milwaukee not scoring for the next 3 minutes until a Tiby layup at 7:08, which ended a 4:34 scoring drought for Milwaukee and an 11-0 DePaul run (which had broken the game open at 63-49). Anyone have any idea what this was about, or if it might have anything to do with other, ahem... on court problems?

^ Uh oh. I really hope it was nothing. I have no idea what happened and unbiasedly i can say that doesn't sound reassuring. All we can do is be optimistic that it was nothing and we made too much out of it.

That stretch in the 2nd Half is where this game was lost. The team looked gassed, and we were hoping for that Under 12 Media Timeout, but Jeter should have called the timeout sooner, instead they played an additional 2 minutes and got burned.
