This season may not be over with yet but it hasn’t been a pleasant one thus far so I began thinking about what’s in store for next season. Here is what I have for the schedule thus far but I am sure some of you can fill in a bit more of it.
2013-2014 Schedule: 8 Home HL games 8 Road HL games
Non-conference Schedule Vs. Northern Iowa (The 4th and final game of the 1-2-1 series with them) Vs. Wisconsin?
Do we still have a return game from IUPUI from this years’ bracket buster? Do we play DePaul for the 4th year in a row? Will we renew a deal with Marquette this off-season? I am also hoping to be in another pre-season tournament.

Hopefully there will be some new additions to the conference next year too! I'm still hoping for Belmont.

I was told by a very good source that a date with Minnesota is looking very good for next season's schedule. I love the idea. Short road trip, and The Barn is a cool arena. I was also told that it's not looking like Marquette is going to happen. I suppose we have Green Bay to thank for that, as well as the Klotsche. Purdue is another possibility. Expect another away game in the NYC area (Manhattan, Hofstra, St. John's, etc.) to give JO a game close to home his senior year.
Non-conference opponents locked in as of now:
at Davidson at Tennessee Tech vs. Northern Iowa
Expected opponents:
at Minnesota at Wisconsin a MAC team or two (Buffalo was specifically mentioned, perhaps NIU series is extended? I would prefer Central or Eastern Michigan.) a NYC opponent

Minnesota was supposed to happen this year too, so I'll believe it when it happens.

Load up on buy games against BCS teams in the non-conference.
They shouldn't be very hard to get next season.
Let's start chipping away at this daunting budget deficit.

I am also hoping to be in another pre-season tournament. If you're going to do that, make it a true pre-conference tournament, not a half-baked, phony-baloney, round-robin mish mash where you play the two other worst participants at a neutral site. Forget that. I'd rather go out and make some money playing BCS conference opponents.

Exactly, load up with games against Depaul , Wisconsin,Minnesota, Iowa, Northwestern, Michigan, Michigan St, try to schedule a game with a current big east team prior to the NYC game....See if South Carolina is interested again...and than play Davidson.. Would rather play known teams , make some money and get exposure than Mary , Ohio Dominican, SW Minnesota ST and the sisters of the blind and girl scout troop 362 !

We should definitely get a couple buy games...coming off such a bad year, it'll be easy to get them while teams see we're down.
See...Marquette's willingness to schedule only after the 9-22 season.

I would actually have no problem taking the Long Beach st approach of the last couple seasons.
Load up on buy games, likely getting the snot beaten out of you in a majority of them, and then enter conference play battle tested with a multiple big paydays in your back pocket.

Somewhere, deep in the bowels of the UWM Post archives, there's an article about scheduling where Jeter talks about balance - too many heavyweights and a team may never learn how to win. Heavyweights should be "there but spare." You don't want too many UALR's, Jacksonville's, Tennessee Tech's and Buffalo's.

I don't expect us to win regularly until 14/15. So load up on heavyweights. Money is important, sadly.

I would also think it would be fun for the Panther players to play at schools like Michigan St., Minnesota, Wisconsin, Kansas, etc. Playing in front of 15,000+.

You don't want too many UALRs, Jacksonvilles, Tennessee Techs and Buffalos. Especially when they're the ones beating the snot out of you. Here's a partial solution to our scheduling woes: a 22-game schedule against an expanded conference that includes Oakland, Belmont and Murray State. Coupled with already scheduled games against UNI, Davidson, Tennessee Tech and IUPUI, that would leave us with only five games still to schedule.

I think he's lost the benefit of the doubt on this. Frankly, Jeter deserves no voice in this discussion. Who we play, and how much money we make and/or spend should be solely decision of our new AD.
