In my humble opinion, the next AD can't fire Jeter, we do not have the financial resources do to so unless a donor or donors can step up with money to buyout the contract. Boise State is a good example. They replace Greg Graham, a stable but not spectacular coach with Leon Rice. Rice has improved the on the court product but has not brought people into the stands. I would imagine the same would happen at Milwaukee. And even if a new coach could boost attendance, the coach couldn't bring in the additional revenue or fundraising to offset the cost of Jeter's remaining contract.

Well, I'll imagine we'll see at some point just how good of a fundraiser Andy Geiger is.

I don't think Geiger has to prove anything to lowly UWM athletics. We should just be grateful that he's here. Right now he's one of the few bright spots in the program.

With how short Geiger's tenure is going to be here, does he honestly care what actually happens here? I'm not trying to be sarcastic.

Geiger is here to do what he can to get us settled financially and help select the next AD. Nothing more.

Mike Reinfeldt, the most accomplished Panther football alumnus, is out as COO of the Tennessee Titans.
Dark horse candidate for AD, or pipe dream?

Not only has he spent many years in the NFL, but also has college athletics experience at USC as Assoc. AD and lots of Financial experience with the Packers, Raiders and Seahawks.

I like the idea but doubt the university could afford him.

Even if that were to happen, don't expect football any time soon. The only way football happens inside 10 years is if they receive an enormous financial commitment from donors or students.

Any word on how we've done with our financial situation? Obviously leaving the Cell has saved us some money. I know when I was there 06-10 we were looking at $1.8 million deficit annually.
Just want the entire department to be successful. It's tough watching a place we all care about spin our wheels.

I want an AD that will fire Jeter and sprinkle a little dirt on this program. I have had it being a nice clean program all that does is loses to ]marqueer[and Wisconsin. I want us back in the cell and its a place teams are scared to play. I want uwm brand of basketball to look like the pistons of a few years back or Cincinnati under bobby thuggins... Just... stop. Granted, I agree with your main sentiment. Anyone trying to run a "clean" program in this day in age is being naive. Only the most serious of rubes don't know what type of big business college basketball is nowadays, and what that inherently entails. Bruce Pearl may be a scumbag, but he was our scumbag, dammit! ;D

Granted, I agree with your main sentiment. Anyone trying to run a "clean" program in this day in age is being naive. Only the most serious of rubes don't know what type of big business college basketball is nowadays, and what that inherently entails. Two things here: 1. Bruce Pearl was in trouble for lying about having recruits to his house for a barbecue. This says more about the hypocrisy of the NCAA and most of its silly recruiting rules than it does about Pearl. Did you know that Kelvin Sampson's show-cause is based on violations that aren't even violations anymore? The NCAA removed limits on phone calls and text messages, something that they realized would be "self-governed" by coaches (you don't want to oversaturate any recruit with calls and texts, therefore turning the kid away). 2. Running a clean program and winning is very possible. We won a title in 2011 whilst running a clean program. Did we go to the tournament? No. But the guys that beat us in the title game did, and they're running a clean program.
