... to honor the 10th anniversary of this team this season. Maybe finally retire #30 while you're at it?

This would be a good year to retire #30, but what does it say about our program if we're honoring past teams for simply making the NCAA Tournament? I say wait two years and celebrate the 2005 team, if anything.

Yes, we will be celebrating the 10 year anniversary during the season. Don't know all the details, but there is a date set... Not allowed to say much more than that yet.

I say wait two years and celebrate the 2005 team, if anything. It says that this team deserves to be celebrated as being the first to make the NCAA tournament. Anyone who was part of the 10,115 in attendance on March 11, 2003, knows how special that night and team was.

This is great great news!!! Kind of ironic too that our first NCAA team played its home games at the KC!!!! That night was my greatest sports thrill in 58 years on this earth. From Bruce's daughter singing a fantastic rendition of the national anthemn to the fans storming the court wow...not ashamed to say I broke down and cried like a baby there...anyway...Clay Tucker!! He did everything but sell popcorn in the stands!! Just put a dagger in Butler's heart. Just my own personal opinion but I think Larry Reed and Clay Tucker are two greatest in UWM history and should have their humbers hanging from the rafters at KC...

It’s also the 20th anniversary of the 1992-1993 men’s basketball team. In the program’s third season of full division 1 play, the 92-93 team achieved a record of 23-4 as an independent. This team also recorded the program’s only victory against the Badgers. Although the 92-93 team didn’t get an invite to the NCAA tournament, the 92-93 team achieved the best winning percentage of any team in program history at the Division 1 level, as well as the only team in school history to post a victory against the Badgers. The 92-93 team also consisted of a couple Panthers basketball legends in Marc Mitchell and Craig Greene as well as their coach, Steve Antrim.

Clay Tucker is the greatest athlete in our basketball program's history. In the future, we can have a lottery pick player, but he still wont compare to what Clay has meant to this school.
We talk about creating tradition at UWM. Clay is a legend. Retire #30!

I say wait two years and celebrate the 2005 team, if anything. Let's not kid ourselves. How many NCAA appearances do we even have? And even if we were to eventually evolve into a Wisconsin/Marquette program down the road, 2003 is the year that catapulted UWM into the national spotlight, albeit briefly. Without 2003, there is no 2005. Plus, no single player on the 2005 squad achieved as much as Clay Tucker. It was more of a fantastic collective effort. McCants came close, though.

Boy do those 2002-2003 photos and the roster sheet bring back a lot of memories. Clay's my favorite college basketball player ever. Just a well-rounded player...there wasn't anything he couldn't do. Not to mention what a clutch player he was. He definitely deserves to have his number retired.
I'd also like to add Fernando Johnson to the "Whatever Happened To" category. I believe he was only with the team that 2nd semester, and then never played for UWM again? I remember taking a buddy to his first Panther game and he wondered who Fernando was and why he wasn't playing more. Seemed so big/athletic.

G.o.D. and I have had multiple conversations this off-season about retiring numbers. Clay and Adrian are my choices - Clay this year and Adrian next year, when Haggerty's graduation opens it up. ....Haggerty's graduation? I'm getting old.
