Another article written by someone who couldn't be bothered to do a little simple research about the Downer woods.
Yawn.

The Downer Woods misinformation aside, there are a lot of truths in that article.
And it wasn't Russell getting fired as much as WSSP needing to free up $$ and time to bring aboard Bill Michaels.

What exactly is the hang-up with Downer Woods? last i heard it was considered a wildlife habitat and WISPRIG was protecting it from letting anything happen to it in any way (even tho there is nothing that actually does live in there aside from maybe squirrels or chipmunks) and the neighborhood association said they would never allow the green space to be removed, again, not that there is much green left in there. At least that was the last i had heard, and that was a few years ago.

100% correct, Jimmy. But that happens when leadership is in place that understands and cultivates the type of political allies that help make this happen. Time will tell if we can get that type of leadership here.

(even tho there is nothing that actually does live in there aside from maybe squirrels or chipmunks) well, and stoners... Actually, they nest inside the tall structures nearby and houses around the campus. They only forage for food and a place to toke up inside the woods.

No one in the legislature is going to push for repealing a bill to protect Downer Woods. And I personally would not want this done. Leave the woods as is. Personally, I think for Milwaukee to have a successful football program, they need a stadium location that ill be more centralized to the Milwaukee metro area. We don't need the football stadium as part of some athletic campus on or near campus. Leave the woods alone and look at other locations.
