I'm starting to worry a little more about Kaylon's brain farts...you'd think he would know A. Where his teammates are, and B. How much time is on the shot clock.... The guy plays every minute of every game and plays his heart out. He is the last guy people should be mad at. Worry about the coaching staff who cannot seem to find a backup PG that can give Kaylon a much needed rest.

18 turnovers in a half-court type of game is terrible.

This offense is a concern. The last seven minutes featured piss-poor execution. Why is Williams throwing up desperation threes instead of running screen after screen for Meier? Great defense doesn't mean you have to sacrifice tempo and quality offensive plays.

Get's very frustrating when so many mental mistakes can cost us..... The more frustrating thing is allowing a team to get 3 chances on 1 possession and then having a defensive break down for a wide open dagger 3. Those were the big mental mistakes.

Well, I'm certainly disappointed with the loss today, but I'm not mad about it. Could we have left Indy being 4-0 in the conference? Of course. But we know this team struggles from the free throw line, so we all have to stop using that as an excuse. Free throws are a part of the game. Some teams live by it, other teams die by it. I have a feeling this will not be the only game we end up looking back at wondering "what if..." or "if only..."
I don't think any team this season will leave Indy with a sweep. And the conference won't be won by anyone in December. Do you think CSU expected to lose to YSU at home? Of course not. But these are the things that happen.
All we can do is regroup and hope that this serves as a wake up call for our guys that that problem from the stripe can (and will) cost us games. If this game doesn't motivate them to relax a little at the free throw line and have some confidence, then I have a feeling we are all going to gain a few more grey hairs this year.

Also, I wish we would have gone for an open look for 3 at the end of the game. We were down by 2 with the last shot on the road against a good team. We escaped with a win in OT last season, but who knows what would have happened with 5 more minutes and Butler finally making some shots. I thought for sure Jeter would have called for Tony or Kaylon to take the last shot for the win. Just my opinion.

The poor free throw shooting def. concerns me but that is something that has plagued the team and really the program in general for years and years. Its the overall shooting that really concerns me. Too many games shooting 30-35% from the field and 20-25% from the 3. Not having Ja'Rob hurts a bit but they were shooting poorly with him in there as well. At some point, they have to shoot well consistently from game to game and not every other game etc.

Shooting comes and goes. We had 20 turnovers. Butler had 12. That means Butler had 8 more possessions than we did just on turnover differential alone. It was effectively a one possession game, as the last free throws by Butler were inconsequential. When you give the other guys 8 more possessions and lose a one possession game you have no one to blame except yourself.
I love Kaylon's intensity and agree he's the most essential player on the team, but win or lose his propensity to give the ball away as a point guard drives me crazy. I believe most if not all of his TOs tonight were in the second half, and you have to believe fatigue was a factor in that. But it's obviously not just Kaylon. Ball security should be an essential requirement for every player. I love how tough our guys are, and there will be better days ahead, but we simply have to value the ball more from every spot in the lineup. We win that game if we merely have 17 turnovers (a horrible number) instead of 20 (an unbelievably horrible number).

The issue with Williams exposes a weakness that teams could take advantage of. I would expect that when teams can they will get physical with Kaylan. Make him run through screens on defense and get more physical with him on offense. Basically wear him down because Milwaukee has no one to run the offense. This could be a factor at the end of the season.

Kaylon does not strike me as the type of player who would back down or be intimidated by physical play.
I think by the end of the year, we'll see more of Shaq Boga as he earns more of Rob's trust. Kaylon is still going to get over 30 minutes a game, he just won't be asked to put in the full 40.

This was a highly disappointing but not devastating loss.
It would have been devastating only if homecourt advantage in the conference tournament actually rode on winning the league's regular-season title.
I've got this gnawing feeling that we'll be back at Hinkle again in early March.

You can be tough, but the physical play can take a toll.

The Panthers fall to 3-17 all time at Hinkle Fieldhouse, with 10 of the losses by between 12 and 30 points.
I'm sure you could count on one hand the number of times the Panthers have led by as many as 10 points.
