There's something special about going to the state capital for the state championship. I'm all for the Fieldhouse being used for the tourney site.
I do feel there's a bias against Milwaukee schools. Back in my day under the old sectional system, Rufus King (my alma mater) had to play in a sectional vs Bay View, Washington, Riverside, Marquette, Tosa East, and Pius. Compared to Vincent who only needed to beat the likes of Homestead, Nicolet, Germantown, and Hamilton; not really a comparison. (Granted its hard to keep track of teams that switch divisions and conferences due to enrollments) With the new redistricting last year, to make things "more Fair" (?), the matchups are even more slanted.
It's always been a well conceived notion that if you can make it out of the City sectionals, you are either unstoppable or exhausted.
There's no way that any school from up-state can compare their sectional and claim it's more difficult. I just named 6-7 schools that are continuously in the top 10 in the state.
IMO, there needs to be a true playoff format.

No doubt Vincent got a break by going through an easier sectional, and now that Diener is at Hamilton they get shipped to the Southeast with the Racine and Kenosha schools (although they rotated the super sectional matchup and they play the milwaukee sectional champs to go to state).
You must not be too old cause you list two private schools and they have only been in that sectional a couple years. As somebody who has attended alot of state tourneys over the last 20 years that sectional has either been won by Washington, King or Tosa East.
Well a true playoff format could get a Superior vs Bayview match up on a Tuesday night or other matchups where there is alot of travel, and considering these are high school students the WIAA doesn't want to deal with the travel. Thats why they call them regionals and sectionals. I don't think the WIAA is perfect and they probably could divide up the sectionals in the southeast a little more fairly but for the most part they get it right.
FYI each sectional does have a true playoff format as the coaches from each sectional meet and seed each team in there sectional.
