I'd love to build an arena by then and have it ready to go, but it looks like our athletic department won't be ready to go.
In the future, this would be awesome.

If I were the undisputed ruler of the universe, the game would go to The Cell (currently, the best place in Wisconsin to see a basketball game for my 1/50th of a dollar) and then move with the Panthers to the new on-campus arena when it's ready.
Also, FWIW, the football championships should be at Lambeau.

Packers probably don't want to hurt the field. The reason Camp Randall works so well is because the turf is fake.

Sure it would be nice to have it in Milwaukee, but Madison is the city it needs to stay in.
Even thou I can't stand that city for reasons that don't need to be discussed on a sports board, there is something about playing in Madison for a state title.
Plus it's almost in the middle of the state. Makes travel easier for those on the West side of the state.
Put it back in the old fieldhouse.

Milwaukee is far and away the hoops capital of Wisconsin... especially on the high school level. Besides, Milwaukee already hosts the WIAA soccer finals and Green Bay hosts the volleyball, but there doesn't seem to be any logistical issues in either case. I also feel that a state's high school finals in any sport should be held at the venue in that state with the most history for a given sport. For basketball in the state of Wisconsin, that would be The Cell. Put it back in the old fieldhouse. Does the fieldhouse even have a basketball floor anymore? I thought they retrofitted it for volleyball when they built the Kohl Center.

The Field House has a floor and it's still a great place to watch a game. It would be great for the High School tournament again. The Cell was the long time host for the WISAA state tournament until the two associations merged. It's a great venue for a high school tournament as well but as a practical matter I don't see the outstate schools ever agreeing to hold the tournament in Milwaukee. You could argue until you were blue in the face about why it should but it simply will never happen.

The belief from outstate is that Milwaukee is unsafe.

I would vote fieldhouse cause I loved watching state basketball games there as a kid. Quite Frankly the Kohl Center is way too big for the state tournament any of the proposed locations would be a good location. I know the WIAA wouldn't do this but how about rotating the locations between the three locations.

Add me in the group that would love to see the Fieldhouse as the future home of the WIAA tournament. No one cares about volleyball or wrestling, why not give the old Fieldhouse a real identity in its later years?

Ironically, state wrestling at the Kohl Center is the only state tournament held there that actually sells out (at least for the finals session). It is a very interesting atmosphere to witness.

The belief from outstate is that Milwaukee is unsafe. Believe me... I have enough realtives from "up nort" who think I dodge bullets everyday on my way to school and work. I could certainly live with the tournament returning to the Field House, I just think The Cell is a much better venue for it and that it's completely ridiculous that it should be denied that chance because of outstate's unfounded hysteria about having to spend the day somewhere that people outnumber the cows and possibly having to interact with black folk. Maybe The Cell could book Toby Keith to perform at halftime... that always seems to get them to come out for SummerFest

Alternating locations? With our new place taking over for The Cell when ready? Never been to the old Fieldhouse, but I trust enough people that it's a nice place to watch the game. It's certainly ridiculous that area teams have the toughest road to state, then have to be the road team once there.
