7-1 (2-0)
I'll take it but my goodness missing FREE THROWS is going to KILL us in a game or two this year unless we get better.
We made this game a lot more difficult than it should ave been even though the defense played well most of the way.

it's a win.
it sounds like they are working on free throws in practice, per Kyle Kelm. Hopefully they continue to practice and the free throw shooting improves. Lets put this one behind us, we've got Depaul on Monday

Hopefully the coaches and players will finally realize the importance of free throws after this one. They were extremely lucky. Until Kaylon can make free throws, you can't afford to have him on the court. Guess what every opponent is going to do to him in a close game. What was he doing in the game at the end of overtime? There was no need for a ball handler since they were going to foul immediately. This is hopefully a wake-up call.

If were winning late, once the fouling game begins Kaylon should be taken out.

I'll take a frustrating win over a frustrating loss any time.
I was disappointed by our inability to stop the dribble drive over the last 12 minutes.
I am also very puzzled as to why someone on that bench can't convince our coach to have Evan Richard in the game to shoot free throws in crunch time. Yes, he turned it over once but I'll take my chances with him (and Tony) at the line over anyone else.
Good game Kyle!

You would think one of the 100 staff members on the bench would have thought of that. Also, unless Meier is that rusty, he should have been in there at the end for free throws.

Everyone outside of Kaylon shot well at the line. Kelm was 8-10, Haarshma 5-7, Allen 3-4...We were about 75% shooting at the line without Kaylon.
Seems to be a bad habit of one player being pitiful at free throws while everyone else is solid...
But still, nearly had 5 players get double digit points and both Haarsma and Allen fell just short of having double-doubles.
We got the home Chicago sweep, we're 7-1...Relieved, but not happy...

Taking a sh*t at the line in the final minutes is the main reason why UIC took a lead in the final seconds.

Kelm made 5 of 7 shots today after making 6 of 7 on Thursday. His season percentage is up to 52%, true shooting percentage is at 58.2. He's effectively averaging 9 points and 6 rebounds. In his last 3 games he averaged 14 points and 6.3 rebounds.

Yup, but as soon as UWM does that to a team with a pulse, they're really going to regret it.

Nice to get a win when you do so many things poorly. 2-0 and 7-1. Let's correct mistakes and move forward... And hopefully this game ends all arguments from anyone that wants to say free throws don't matter. Come on...

I don't know of anyone who says free throws don't matter.
There is a simple way to remedy the end of game free throw issue.
Kaylon inbounds the ball. You have Evan, Tony, Ja'Rob, and Ryan on the floor taking the inbound pass. Set up a pick for Evan to take the inbound pass. Or have Evan go and get the ball from whoever does take the inbound pass.
Yes, I know Evan turned the ball over on his one opportunity today. I'm sure he expected them to foul him right away. When they didn't, I think he was just caught off guard. Besides, I thought they hacked him on the arm when they stole the ball.

Revisit the board from a couple games ago. Some were saying that our terrible free throw percentage wasn't a concern. It is. But as pointed out, the timing to tonight was more cocerning than anything else. Now let's beat Depaul.
