Replace Detroit with UWM and Valpo with Green Bay and that is the most logical prediction I've seen.

I know its off topic...but anyone but me paying attention to the Panther Women's Volleyball team? Skrapheap is a season-ticket holder and a big fan. I've been unable to get over there, but I've watched a handful of matches on HLN and TW32. They aren't making mistakes like they have in the past. Susie's got them locked good and tight. I also think Potter's a great defensive leader, diminutive though she may be. We'd have another loss if we played Wisconsin, but they have been very good for most of the year. The problem is that the Panthers are in the Horizon League, which is a great conference for basketball and soccer but awful in volleyball. Milwaukee is the only team in the top 100 of the RPI, then only two more in the top 150. Who's bringing up the rear? YSU, surprise surprise, as they check in at 309 - out of 327.

I know its off topic...but anyone but me paying attention to the Panther Women's Volleyball team? i keep a thread running on the Other UWM Sports portion of the board. Most of the time i'm talking to myself (which is a good way to insure that one has an intelligent and sympathetic audience ). Feel free to stop in and comment, Blackcat.
The 2011 Horizon League is not as strong in volleyball as it has been in previous years, but this season the top four teams could easily all finish with 20+ wins.

2011-12 Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook 1, Detroit 2, Cleveland State 3, Butler 4, Milwaukee 5, Valparaiso 6, Youngstown State 7, Green Bay 8, UIC 9, Loyola 10, Wright State
First-team all-conference 1, Ray McCallum, Jr., Detroit (POY) 2, Trevon Harmon, Cleveland State 3, Andrew Smith, Butler 4, Damian Eargle, Youngstown State 5, Eli Holman, Detroit
Newcomer of the Year James Haarsma, Milwaukee
Some fascinating things here. Blue Ribbon tends to be the foremost authority on college basketball ... at least relative to the various other preseason publications out there.

Wright State in last place. That's different.

Looks like Northland State is a top 50 program, lets get them and kick out Youngstown.

Gary D'Amato is an outstanding writer, almost certainly one of the best writers at the entire paper.
But there are some things, both good and bad, a beat reporter would know -- or would have known to ask -- that were omitted from the story. Kaylon Williams didn't have a triple-double in the second game against Butler, but the first. How long is his suspension? Is he being suspended at all? Too many unanswered questions.
If the thumbnail sketches were ordered by projected playing time, as they have been in the past, those were a complete mess.
