The fact that people on this board without a degree from UW-Dane County would root for the Badgers Basketball team over Butler is a disgrace and says a lot about where loyalties lie. It also shows they never had any interaction with Satan (Bo Ryan).

Lets go Bulldogs! UW-Madison/Madison at Wisconsin/UW-Dane County (my fav.) will go down. Madison doesn't root for Milwaukee or its likes, so why should we.
GO Panthers!

Not even close. I want Wisconsin to win by 50 points. And I LIKE Butler.

It also shows they never had any interaction with Satan (Bo Ryan). Loyalties? Are we really on this garbage again? This is by definition taking sports way too seriously. I root for UWM, have a degree from the institution, and am a season ticket holder. I also root for the Badgers (my future alma mater; I'll certainly root for them on Thursday) and Marquette (which I'll do tonight). It's just a game. This isn't life or death.

I'll be pulling for Butler, but won't be disappointed if Madison wins.

Simply ask yourself this:
From what outcome would the Panthers gain the most?
The answer that lies within will tell you for whom to root.

This is a tough one for me. I grew up rooting for the badgers passively, took a greater interest in college basketball as i got older, always hated marquette but liked wisky. I would love to see them make it far in the tourney.
However, my loyalties lie with Milwaukee, and because of that i want to see Butler represent the horizon league well.
But at the same time, I HATE Butler. cant stand watching Matt howard, cant stand Ronald Nored, cant stand shelvin mack...
So i'll be watching the game, hopefully enjoying it, and i'll make peace with either result I suppose. Neither help my bracket, as i had Pitt.

Simply ask yourself this: From what outcome would the Panthers gain the most? The answer that lies within will tell you for whom to root. Or be selfish and simply ask yourself this: From what outcome would I be the least annoyed with? For me, it would be a BU win so that the legions of Bucky fans in my life are forced to realize there is a Horizon League that plays D1 basketball and, god forbid, can actually beat B10 teams. I'm hoping for the Rose Bowl of March Madness here (or sometime soon): Yes, Bucky, there are other teams out there.

I was at the HL semifinals with my dad (he graduated from Madison and UWM), and was actually making fun of him because he had a Badgers sweatshirt on because he forgot to wash his UWM shirt. I then proceeded to explain that many of the Panther faithful consider it treason to root for both the Badgers and UWM. His response? UWM is going to alienate a lot of fans--including him. That's the sad reality of mid-majors across the country.
I don't have a problem with people rooting for other programs. What I DO have a problem with is UWM students who are essentially ashamed of their own university and alma mater and will ONLY root for Wisconsin or Marquette. These are the people who never go to the basketball games, have no idea who Rob Jeter is, and can't name a single player on the team. They treat UWM like a community college, go home for the weekend, and root for the Badgers without paying any attention to the Panthers. That's what has always bugged me. Other programs have escaped the shadow of the flagship institution, so why can't UWM?
I think this is a much more pressing issue than rooting for Butler over UW. And just in case anyone is wondering, here is my fandom hierarchy:
1. Milwaukee 2. Wisconsin 3. Marquette
