I agree and empathize with much of what Steve writes. It's taken me a couple of days to adjust my expectations again, but an NIT berth is our fifth postseason bid in 21 (or 28 or 29, depending on the source) years of Division 1 basketball. This isn't the watered-down CIT or CBI, but a bona fide postseason invitation. Now, let's go win some games! You most likely wouldn't be in the NIT had the NCAA not bought it out a few years back and made automatic bids the norm, so don't be too excited. I am certain if there weren't auto bids, Valpo would be a preferred team for the NIT.

By this logic, any midmajor team in the NCAA that won the autobid through their conference tourney should not be excited either, right? Ridiculous.
Who cares what the scenario was a few years back? And either way, I'm fairly certain the 4th place conference team would not be preferred over the Champ. Sorry pal.

Here's a thought for next year... try winning the conference. Good luck in the CIT though.

RPI does not mean one team is better than or worse than any other. I think our 2-1 record against valpo says more.
On an unrelated note, how do we get the time on the board page to match up with daylight savings?

Horizon League titles for UWM - 1 Horizon League titles for Valpo - 0
What an injustice. Not everything in life is given to you... you need to EARN them. The same goes for an NIT bid.

On an unrelated note, how do we get the time on the board page to match up with daylight savings? Go to "Profile" and then select "Modify Profile." Scroll down to the bottom and change the "Currently Observing DST" option to Yes.

So I wouldn't get too excited about that coveted CBI bid. [/valpologic]

Also, drewsaders, by your argument, we should take away the auto bids to the NCAA. I'd LOVE for that to happen, and have the NCAA be a high-major fest.

Face it, drewsaders. Valpo's in a big-boy league now. Things haven't been nearly as rosy as they were back in the Mid-Con.

More thoughts to consider using drewsaders' logic ...
If there wasn't a mass exodus of teams from the Mid-Con to the MCC in 1994, Valpo would still be the Youngstown State of the Mid-Con.
