If the Panthers continue the roll they had against Butler and UIC, this should be another good victory for them. Jeter's teams have always had great January's, and they should do well again.
I am also starting to like the more playing time Allen is getting. He is bringing electricity to the games and while he is still rough on the edges, he has been cleaning is game up more and more and I think getting more minutes will mean only good things for the whole team. This is also the second straight home game that the Panthers never trailed in.
This team looks like they have now finally found themselves and should cap off a nice home sweep of Chicago.
Panthers, 82-67

If it's anything like last season, there will be a nice crowd at the Cell. Many Loyola fans.

Heard a really remarkable stat last night during the broadcast ... Jeter's teams are now 35-15 in the month of January, which is very good.
But considering his overall record is near .500, I wonder what it is in the other months.

Dylan, I agree with your assessment regarding the team's offensive approach. I might only add that I'd like to see this team remember that defense can turn things around when the shots aren't falling.
I think about the GB game in particular, during the second half. It struck me as if the team let up defensively, exactly at a time when they needed it most --- not making shots, so, desperately needing stops on the other end. However GB sliced and diced with ease.
That said, the team has shown defensive prowess at times. Even though UIC put up some points last night, I was impressed with the D... Ryan Allen and Tone Boyle to be specific. Both were in UIC's face, constantly pressuring the ball. Allen's stepped up game is especially heartening. We've seen him in the past not play within himself, letting his athleticism sometimes get the best of him. Last night he did most everything right.
Meier was also impressive, anticipating the pass.

This does not add up. Please ignore!

I mean breaking down those other months ... I would figure November is probably the worst of the bunch, followed by December, and then February.

November: 17-22 (.436) December: 20-19 (.513) January: 35-15 (.700) February: 13-20 (.394) March: 6-5 (.545)
So February has been surprisingly the worst month for Jeter. Last year was the first time he had a winning record in the month.

That means Vegas thinks the Ramblers are seven points better on a neutral court. We'll see.
As for the rest, I only wish I had more time.
In regards to PF's post, it's totally against my natural state to say that a team must focus on offense first. After all, my favorite teams through the years in all sports have been terrific on defense (or pitching, in baseball), including Dick Bennett's UWGB teams.
Here's why I say that fast-paced, free-flowing, fan-friendly basketball is the key for this team:
When it tries to be a grind-it-out, halfcourt-based team, it inevitably falls behind. When that occurs, something inside of this team dies and freezes up inside. It's not a lack of effort that stops this team, as there are any number of high-character individuals here.
Rather, it's an energy deficit.
So by picking up the pace and attacking from the start, they accomplish two things:
1, They give themselves a cushion in the event that they're visited by one of those infamous, anguished scoring droughts and ...
2, They stay engaged and energized throughout, with everyone feeding off the shot-making of their teammates.
You could call this approach "risk management."
