Not to mention the game was the day before the day before Thanksgiving. What the hell are students going home to mommy and daddy for two nights before Thanksgiving? Is the university closed today?

There are well over 15,000 students living on or near campus. There were well under 100 who attended the game. It's difficult to believe that other 14,950 were on their way home for thanksgiving.

Face it, many students just don't care.

Face it, many students just don't care. Never a more true statement said on this board. One thing is going to get students to games, consistent winning. Not 3 games in a row against teams the average student has never heard of, but year after year winning. Bruce started it, but then left. Rob had one year, his first. You can talk to your blue in the face about how to market this better to students, but it isn't going to work.

I want to state the obvious.... with exception to grad students and 6 year seniors...no student here as expereinced a ncaa run (with the best year being last year)..and no one cheers for this team growing up, so when they come to school they need a reason to jump on the bandwagon expect the attendance to be the same until milwaukee at least makes it to the hl championship

I will be blunt and concise:
<In over 25 years watching UWM basketball that had to be amont the 3 or 4 most awful pathetic performances. Only reason I stayed until the end was I bid on Kaylon's jersey and was actually outbid....my only consolation .
<The Klotsche is horrible. Forgot how horrible. Inadequate rest rooms. Lousy concessions... No decent amenities, scoreboard etc. Looks like a piece of crap. Frankly, I was embarassed. What a cheesy joke of a high school gym trying to look like a College facility. Barely NAIA quality. Until we get a decent on campus arena I am flat out not going to another game there unless it is an exhbition and if we play regular season games there int he future I am no longer a season ticket holder. Period.
<If we were making such a big deal out of this retro night we could have had a few fun promotions,. Other than a pathetic former mascot with a glove on dancing . Embarassing and pathetic. Great marketing UWM Athletics!!!!!! Holy Crap.
<Why pick a night when a lot of the students are gone for Holiday to count on a big student turnout to bolster support for an on campus arena. Nice going.. this sets this way back.. Again, do it right or don't do it all.
<Lastly, what time period did those uni's resurrect??

Was that a travel or a Horizon League pivot?

I work here on campus and there isn't a single thing I can think of on game day or the days leading up to a home game that lets students or staff/faculty know there is a game going on. Its absolutely pathetic. I have never been so disappointed with an athletic event on multiple levels. This was complete failure. I held off on commenting last night thinking that my tirade would most likely get me banned. Still steaming this morning.
Last night I gave my extra ticket to a student who lost his voucher. Thankfully, my roommate did not want to go so he could finish some grad school work. I texted him at half time and told him I was glad he couldn't make the game. I would be sitting next to an empty seat all season.
Would I be correct in assuming the reason they thought that student attendance was going to be so high was because they were just giving students vouchers for this game when they asked for a Marquette voucher?

the more i think about this.. inexcusale.... I think I saw Glen Allen walking around in the crowd... if we were going to have this we could have done better... more disco music... some fun things even if inexpensive other than the pathetic embarassing Victor E dance....why couldn't we have had a few old players or coaches introduced at half time or something??? Made a bit of a fuss honoring a player or coach or two from the past? Would that have been too much??? No frickin imagination or anything other than unis, and Victor E...where is our marketing dept??

Why did the UWM ticket office not put out single game tickets to the public on ticketmaster and the box office for the WMU game?

The reason no one cares is because when they come to games no one there seems to care. We dont have a young season ticket holder base which kills us. We need die-hard energetic fans who come to every game expecting to win. Myself I am 25 and this is my first year having season tickets and wish there was a younger following. Losing is not OK and if you think that honestly I would prefer you do not come to games. Sometimes I feel like the majority of our fan base could care less win or lose they just come to the games for entertainment.

Boy, this was one of those games where I woke up around 3am and had to wonder if it was all just a terrible dream? It's as if everything that's bothered me about our program over the years came to roost in one night.
As Dylan wisely said, I hope everyone involved in this bball program that I love so much does some serious soul-searching. The few fans that do really care deserve better.

I still think an on-campus arena is the best solution long term. Whether we are downtown or on campus winning will be the key. I am less upset about the team's performance however brutal as that can happen and I saw it happen even in Pearl era although this was REALLY bad.....I am just upset at the cheesiness of the whole Klotsche and last night's lack of decent promotion. Better to do something right or not at all... Not sure how that benefited the cause or the program in general other than maybe saving U S Cellular rent for one game... NEVER do this again... this actually probably cost us some fans down the road this season. I say we low key this, learn from it , forget about it and F.... the Klotsche. Sorry it sucks.

Meanwhile across town, there were nearly as many students on hand for the latest in a series of lectures on breakfast foods titled "What's the deal with Ovaltine? The jar is round. The mug is round," a presentation by Dr. Kenneth Bania.
It was as if there were two guys named Moose and Rocco standing outside of the building, threatening to break the legs of any students that entered.
Sorry, but the students -- 75 percent of whom have parents who live closer to campus than Hack -- can't be absolved on this one.
Imagine being one of the players coming out for warmups a half hour before the game, looking up into the stands and seeing about 50 people on hand. I was there and can attest to the expression on their faces. It wasn't one of joy or excitement.
