I did like Nighthawk's "Timmy" yells during, I think it was the Sam Houston game.
Sounded like you were yelling it in South Park fashion. "Timmy, Timm-i, Timmy".

The band doesn't like playing it. It's dated, but no one has even attempted to rewrite it as far as I know.
Maybe if it were spiced up with some RAH-RAHs like Varsity and other alma mater songs, the band would play it. That would be a way to get people to stay...playing of our alma mater song.
I don't like the "to thee, we turn our hearts and voices.." it's so damn cheesy. I don't want to sing my praises. Oh well. If it were played, I would sing it. It just isn't played.

yeah, jimmy summed it up. the song sucks. i've never played it, or even seen music for it. i know of it much like the rest of you guys, hearing the recording the on the website = lame. most "alma mater" type tunes are overly sappy like that but ours is weak. i doubt that 90% of our fans would even recognize the tune. a revamped version or a completely new one could be nice, start a new tradition. the question being posed is does the fan base want it? if enough interest is shown our directors will consider playing/rewriting the song.

Actually some of us were asked to look at rewriting the alma mater so it could be used at graduation. There's nothing there to rewrite so the parts were basically thrown away. There are still copies somewhere I'm sure, but they're good for starting a fire and that's all. If somebody writes a new one, great, but I would guess there won't be anyone tripping over themselves to do so.

Someone should get on it. It could be an important cornerstone to building unity.

The airball chant against CSU was beyond stupid. You do the chant after that player's done it but for the love of god you don't keep it going for half the game (considering he had scored points after the shot) and as inconsistently as it was being done. Seems like every 3rd time he touched the ball the chant started even though he scored points the last possession CSU had.

DunneDeal,
You fail to mention how we also made a girl cry, on Loyola's team, after she had fouled out.

The final words in Frans first game article:
"Probably the most boisterous fan at the game was senior Jim Leipzig. After the cheerleaders had repeatedly failed agreement from the fans, Leipzig led the fans en masse in a booming chorus of:
'Peanuts, Popcorn, Onion Soup! Come on Panthers, BOOP BOOP BE DOOP!'"
I say we do this as a tribute to the final days of football.
