You guys have to work on never being silent... especially when the action is on the student section side of the court. There were a few times tonight (Sunday) that it was completely silent while the Panthers were defending on that side of the court.

I would like to say that with the amount of students that we did have 50 cheering and about 50 sitting being bumps on a log. It was hard to do it..we tried to keep it loud but sometimes just watching the game gets you caught up. lol but we addressed the silence in the 2nd half

Oh well, I was expecting less.
Gave them homework to do for the Marquette game (wink wink), as well as told them to get as many people as possible to come tomorrow night. I figure we can get a pretty big crowd, but I won't be able to run around tomorrow in the dorms because I have class and stuff.

Do it.
And get some freshmen to do the same, like Wacker and frontrowref.

Do it. And get some freshmen to do the same, like Wacker and frontrowref. Most freshman are just worried about getting drunk... that's why it's so hard to pass the SBGC presidential duties down!

Hey, you'll have an easy choice. It's me that's gonna have a hard time. But it might be OK, a lot of freshmen are stepping up, and a couple sophomores have also done so.

as far as chanting is concerned: it was said on another thread that when the cheerleaders start chants most of the time its too slow. i agree there's nothing worse than a U-W-M set to a death march. however, the rest of the student section tends to vamp up the tempo far too quickly. to the point of incoherence of whats being said or so fast that not enough people can keep up and the chant dies. i know it's difficult orchestrating a large number of kids to be on the same page but, listen for the band. we're pretty good at keeping a rhythm. we tend to fall in the middle between the sluggish cheerleaders and the over caffeinated student section.
granted it can be hard for most of the section to hear us, but do try. this all would be easier of course if the band was in the middle of the section (the move is in the works hopefully it gets done this year; judging by the rate of change we'll see). if we can organize ourselves this way we can be a much tighter sounding group.
by the way if you hear the #48 yelled out by our director or see it on the little white board we have, thats thriller in our book and your cue to dance.

Just a suggestion here. How about chanting when they play "Thunder" as the teams are gettin ready for the tip off. Either "Thunder" or "Panthers" would do.

I've tried it, can't get anyone to go along. I'll put it in tomorrow's chant sheets.

Question: Why don't they play "Welcome To the Jungle" at the start of the first half? We are the Panthers... why are we always welcoming them in the second half?
Why Thunderstruck?
