If we can propose Gulls and Normals, I say form a partnership with Harley and call ourselves the VTwins.

Not sure college athletics really fits into what Harley is trying to sell... namely the idea that buying a motorcycle and a bunch of corporate-branded gear turns white-collar executives into bad ass one-percenters (hello, double entendre!). Normals. Normals. Normals. Yes... you're trolling... WE GET IT!!!

I hope no one is taking what I posted seriously regarding the Harley partnership and the logo.
As a former Harley owner, I never attempted or pretended to be a bad ass biker. I still know several Harley owners and only one tries to be a bad ass biker dude. Most are simply enjoying their ride, not trying or pretending to be bad ass bikers.

I ride bikes and grew up around my uncle, who rode with the 15s after he came back from Vietnam. While I don't necessarily think someone has to be as extreme as he was back in the day to be considered one, he did influence my idea of what it means to be a biker and own a Harley... suffice to say a lot of modern Harley owners love having an image to show off to their co-workers and relatives more than they actually care the brotherhood... if they even know about the brotherhood... and are thus taking a steaming dump on the only freedom a lot of people have ever known...
...and I'll leave it at that.
Now could we PLEASE discuss the BRANDING merits of Milwaukee mascots (past and present) in the Milwaukee BRAND thread?!

Question, does a mascot need to represent living creature in some fashion? Why not look for something that is iconic to the university's location? Maybe a Harley partnership should not be treated more seriously? Or how about the Milwaukee Bikers?

A Harley-themed identity would work much better for a pro team than a college team. If Harley really wanted to partner with the university, maybe they could work with the mechanical engineering department to build us a custom, black and gold... (alternative fuel brurning?) motorcycle to use as a second mascot, kind of like Georgia Tech's Ramblin' Wreck.

Do you think the SBGC would get in trouble if we posted signs like this advertising bball games next year. Haha. I think it would be worth it to try it at least once. Attachments:

Oh come on. Obviously ours would be funnier. Also, Bo Ryan looks more like the lizard king than a badger. And jimmy you suck. Lol

Even if this poster did suck its better than anything our athletic department posts. Oh wait they don't post flyers about games nearly ever. Or any advertising for games for that matter.

Our AD could never post something like this.

Im saying they don't post anything at all. Obviously our athletic department couldn't post this. But we could anonymously. i wasn't even saying we should do it. Just thought it would be funny.

Honestly, the Milwaukee brand is in shambles on every front. Even during the Pearl years, I remember talking to kids in the dorms who had no idea that there was a game going on that evening. How the hell is that possible? Everything from the brand to the advertising and marketing has always been a joke.

Actually, I kind of like the name Gulls. I like the whole "Battle of the Birds" series if we ever actually field a team that can play with Marquette.
