Let's just hope the smoke clears quickly and there are as few casualties as possible.
Onward and upward.

I agree with SOME of his statements.

Tell David Nicholas, Harris Turer, Andy Schlesinger, et al that private donations represent a "drop in the bucket" of the athletics department budget.

Dave Begel is still just another idiot with an opinion.

Good lord that was moronic.
You could write that same dullard prose with only minor revisions about every college in the country that has athletic programs, from Viterbo to UCLA.

Why anyone continues to read Begel is beyond me. OnMilwaukee.com keeps him on because people keep checking back to see what mundane and idiotic rambling his writes each week ... thus leading to higher talkback numbers.
Surprised he can even type with his knuckles dragging on the ground.

Sorry to post this (the end link) in an unrelated thread, but I know this is where most everybody is checking during these crazy days. Btw- really, really hope that the Administration can stop this nervous hand-wringing, be transparent about what in the h%%% is really going on, take proper action, and move forward. We deserve better from out UWM leaders. IMHO, it's ridiculous for a state-subsidized (even if just subsidized in the smaller %'s of overall budget) institution to leave Wisconsinites completely in the dark as to why they placed a high profile UWM employee on Administrative Leave. I don't get it. I don't like it. And I want all the embarrassment and confusion to stop. This dismissive stance that it is a "personnel" decision does nothing but give credence to people like Truth11, and the psycho (almost certainly an employee of the AD sadly) who railed against Jimmy- who, by all estimates is BY FAR the most supportive and involved student in Milwaukee Athletics- but who by no means has (or at least by no means should have) any bearing on the performance review of the Athletic Director. Give us a frickin break Santiago, and man up. That being said.... for a diversion from all of this AD misinformation- I have created a few Excel charts (saved as JPEGs) of some statistics from the last 10 and 20 years that I found to be somewhat interesting. It really does help to structure and visualize some of these numbers we speculate about and toss around ad naseum on this board. Nothing shocking here... but definitely worth a glace if you have the time: milwaukeepanthertracks.blogspot.com/2010/04/milwaukee-panthers-by-simple-numbers.htmlWell done, Victor. The two stats that jump out at me - and they are unquestionably linked - are turnovers forced and points/game. This team hasn't averaged 70/game since Pearl's group left, and the turnovers forced have gone downward as the pressure defense has disappeared. This is not coincidental.

Of course it's not coincidental. It's also not important. There are different ways to play defense that are equally valid. Execution is always more important than scheme.

What is the scheme? Whether it's the scheme or the execution, the bottom line is it hasn't been very good and hasn't done the job in creating turnovers.

Begel sounds like he should have had his own program at Air America.

That was a gem of a read. Let's just completely eliminate all remaining traces of school spirit at UWM.

I find it interesting that Frank, who is also the chair of the Wisconsin Center District, our landlord at the Cell, is representing George.
But more pertinently, whatever gets worked out it would be very hard to imagine GK coming back. I have no inside knowledge about it, but I can't see how that could work given the water that's gone over the bridge.
