Jimmy,
So because Koonce does not do what you would do as AD makes him disinterested? Is that what you are saying? Because if it is, it is a weak argument to make. His way of doing things is not your way of doing things.

Panther... 5,866 posts and that's your single best one.
Were you ever an Athletics Director in a former life?
I think your itinerary is a little over-optimistic as far as moving around, meeting as many people as possible, because you'd be spreading yourself a mile wide and an inch deep, and people would come to resent that you're putting on a show ("but how come he didn't do what I asked him to that time we talked at the game?"...)
but do it at least once, maybe a few times, and you'd send a message about the way you value the program.

BP does any of that change when you have a teenager and a 4 year old with you at all games?

I think people like the "show" BP was a show everyday, and look at what he did with the program.

I could not resist the fact that I want to Tell all you People I told you so. Koonce is a idiot and pill popping addict but onto a new topic for all you so called fans I am very interested what are you going to do when Iowa state make a offer that UWM cant match are you going to start singing the Jeter praise then. As i see it if I was Jeter I would leave since most every body that writes on this board turned there back on him this year. Good luck with your coaching search I hear Gorge is looking for a job.

What a joke. So you were right about George. Does that give you the right to call him a "pill popping addict", and an "idiot"? What does Rob Jeter have to do with George Koonce? You think because you were right about the AD situation that you can spout off about any and all unfounded things you can think of? You are clearly a very little man...Who the hell do you think you are? Disgruntled people like yourself are typically very miserable people, not only to be around but in life in general. Congrats on calling out George Koonce...you were not the only one in the world to do so... I can't wait for another non-grammatical paragraph of drivel that is sure to come from your cowardly little brain... What a joke you are

I guess you were drinking the kool-aid as well this past winter but its ok all you need to do is repent and say you make a poor choice is backing Kooncey. As far as the pill pooping think do your research little one. I know you live in a dark room with the message boards and world of war craft but its out there you seem to be a bright young man I am sure you could find it. As far as jeter this who think started because of that. The we need to fire jeter talk but for some reason I dont see that anymore. Well I guess your on the team now but thats not the way it works my spineless friend either your on or off. And as far as I can remember there weren't too many on when I made my comment but hey I guess that's what happens with a program like this no real fans just a bunch of bloggers. Good luck with that im done here ive made my point.

gman2 -
If you don't think it's important to talk to donors or season-ticket holders every chance possible, I don't know what to tell you. I'm saying that someone who spends most of the game in the Panther Pit hanging out with development people is not getting the job done. We have an athletic program where we need to constantly raise money, and I find it particularly disheartening to hear from multiple Top-10 donors that they haven't been asked for a single dollar.
freshmilwaukee -
The teenager and 4 year old don't change the situation if I have someone else in the family, living with me, that can take care of them.
There are plenty of game nights over the year, but there are far more nights where there is no game - there is plenty of time for family on non-game nights and weekends.

Let's get back on topic. Jimmy's idealized description of how an AD ought to do it was a fun read. I don't think an AD could do that every game, game after game, for a lot of reasons, but it certainly is true that if an AD is just outgoing and active at every event he will reap rewards for the program. My observation -- and I was at every men's BB game -- was that Bud Haidet was actually much, much more active and outgoing than George was last year. Considering that George was hired in very large part because it was perceived that he would be a relationships/fundraising dynamo, that was both surprising and disappointing.
As for Rob Jeter, I think he is very excited about the roster he's putting together, and I doubt that he's spending any time thinking about other jobs.

I wouldn't call George a pill-popping idiot. If the rumors of drug abuse are true, then the last thing we need to do is kick him while he's down. If it's true, I hope he finds help to kick his addiction and do what's right by his family, wherever he ends up.

Just saw the coaches yesterday and I'd have to say that "other jobs" were the furthest thing from their minds. Instead, they're working hard at researching the ever-expanding list of available transfers and determining which ones would be best-suited to our program.
A quick glance around the college basketball landscape will turn up places like Evansville, Iowa State, Toledo and Green Bay and show just how fortunate we are to have our current situation, one that reveals genuine continuity and steady upward growth.

All I will say is...possibly a more worthless post than the Fire Jeter thread starter.

Sorry to post this (the end link) in an unrelated thread, but I know this is where most everybody is checking during these crazy days. Btw- really, really hope that the Administration can stop this nervous hand-wringing, be transparent about what in the h%%% is really going on, take proper action, and move forward. We deserve better from out UWM leaders. IMHO, it's ridiculous for a state-subsidized (even if just subsidized in the smaller %'s of overall budget) institution to leave Wisconsinites completely in the dark as to why they placed a high profile UWM employee on Administrative Leave. I don't get it. I don't like it. And I want all the embarrassment and confusion to stop. This dismissive stance that it is a "personnel" decision does nothing but give credence to people like Truth11, and the psycho (almost certainly an employee of the AD sadly) who railed against Jimmy- who, by all estimates is BY FAR the most supportive and involved student in Milwaukee Athletics- but who by no means has (or at least by no means should have) any bearing on the performance review of the Athletic Director. Give us a frickin break Santiago, and man up. That being said.... for a diversion from all of this AD misinformation- I have created a few Excel charts (saved as JPEGs) of some statistics from the last 10 and 20 years that I found to be somewhat interesting. It really does help to structure and visualize some of these numbers we speculate about and toss around ad naseum on this board. Nothing shocking here... but definitely worth a glace if you have the time: milwaukeepanthertracks.blogspot.com/2010/04/milwaukee-panthers-by-simple-numbers.html
