They weren't giving out vouchers; they were giving out little fliers that reminded people to get vouchers.

As of pre-game Saturday, there were nearly 600 vouchers given out for WMU and over 600 for MU.

They should come to Sandburg Hall and pass out vouchers, or even RiverView or Cambridge becuase there were only 8 or 9 student who got on the shuttle from those dorms. Cambridge has over 700 students alone, you can't tell me that 600 of them don't like basketball. They should go to the Cambridge Cafe tomorrow and hand out vouchers at lunch. If they want a great student section them they have to reach out to all sections of campus, that includes the ever forgotten south campus that holds over 1200 students.

Except that they have jobs/classes and the Riverview/Cambridge/Kenilworth dorms are quite out-of-the-way. Considering those kids have classes, the Union is a fair place to hand out fliers because everyone goes through the Union at some point.

Why does that obsess you so much? It's Saturday night of the Thanksgiving weekend. It's not going to be a sellout and never was going to be a sellout.

I want the game to be a sell-out and it would look like a big black-eye for the City of Milwaukee and UWM if it's not sold-out.
The ticket office said it should be sold-out.

If it's not a sellout it would only be due to Marquette fans protesting this game because they see it as a lose-lose.
I think we'll have at least 5-6,000 of our fans there... if just 1/2 of the 8,000 or so MU fans that go to the MU non-con games vs. Utah Valley State and Centennary came (to see a much, much better game) there is no way it won't sellout (or at least be > 10,000).
Can't wait for tomorrow night though. If tomorrow goes well (and the JS reports on it)... Saturday night could be a big walk-up draw. I don't know how the UWM-MU game won't at least approach sellout numbers. We had > 10,000 for Wisconsin in '07 right? Am I missing something?

An email was just sent out -- finally -- encouraging all students to get their vouchers.

An email was just sent out -- finally -- encouraging all students to get their vouchers. They sent out one already, but this one is also problematic; there's no hype, nothing telling the students WHY it's so special, or showing pics or anything of the madness last time we had a voucher game.

It's not like though that you can't find this information out. The Kevin's (O'Connor and Conway) do a heck of a job promoting Panther athletic events on their twitter accounts. The AD twitter account may not update everyday but it's not like it's never updated. And that's where they are missing the boat ... a Twitter account should be updated everyday, especially in the busiest part of the year for the athletics dept. Last five Tweets from MKEPanthers, the official Twitter of Milwaukee Panthers athletics (note the dates): MKEPanthers Milwaukee Panthers Support the Women's Soccer team tonight as they take on Wisconsin in the first round of the NCAA tournament. 5:00pm at Valley Field 12 Nov MKEPanthers Milwaukee Panthers Congratulations to the Women's Volleyball team on clinching the Horizon League regular season title and Women's... fb.me/xfz1edYn7 Nov MKEPanthers Milwaukee Panthers #WSoccer at Engelmann tonight, Sun.... #Volleyball at Klotsche Sat./Sun.... #MSoccer at Engelmann Saturday... To add on, I understand the Kevins do a good job of updating their twitter accounts frequently (62 and 63 followers, respectively) ... my question is, why aren't they using the official Twitter account of Milwaukee athletics (706 followers)? Nothing too great, but I would think you'd want to get maximum impact out of your message.
A casual Panthers fan would have to know who they are and search them out by name in order to get updates. Especially since no hashtags are being used to help create a following among Panthers fans who use Twitter (i.e. MU uses #mubb).
There are plenty of programs out there (TweetDeck, HootSuite, etc.) that allow individuals to access multiple accounts from one single platform. That way ticket staff, marketing staff, SID staff all could help send out messaging on the same account ... a collective team effort. Bucks do a great job of mixing promotions and game info, and I can probably guarantee you it's not all being done by the same individual.
I understand staff and time could be an issue and can't have someone living on Twitter, but since they are already updating their own Twitter accounts, I would hope we could get more updates on the flagship athletics team for the university.

Why does that obsess you so much? It's Saturday night of the Thanksgiving weekend. It's not going to be a sellout and never was going to be a sellout. But one of the arguments used originally was that this game would sell out because of all of the interest and because everyone wanted it, and because it was "good for basketball in the state of Wisconsin..." Now, it "never was going to be a sellout"...? Interesting...

I certainly am among those who find the date conspicuous and wish we had tried a different weekend.

I agree.
Between Thanksgiving weekend and deer hunting...it was a bad weekend to schedule this game.
