Tonight's win showed some progress in the right direction. Bradley is missing a couple of their top guys but, on the other hand they had their refs.
It was a good win, that we might not have gotten last year.

FTA, a small group of us have already let Scott Warras know that we want him and not Brainerd. Brainerd, while I respect his journalistic ability and his solid play-by-play skills on TWS, is just not an arena announcer.
The detractors are awful quiet tonight. Not much to b**** about.
In all honesty, though, I'm not going to take a whole lot out of this win. Here are the pluses:
- Got them back for the game last year - Got that bad MAC taste out of the mouth - Going into Christmas on a good note - Withstood a strong barrage from the Braves - Overcame a strong away crowd (small plus, but they weren't flustered by it) - Didn't let bad referee calls faze them - Improved to above .500 - Beat an MVC team that has beaten our next opponent, UIC - Most importantly, picked up some much needed momentum going into UIC on the 30th
Now, some things to keep in mind so as to not get carried away in excitement:
- A "down" Bradley team - We had a hot shooting first half - Non-conference game - Opponents missing key players
There are more that could fit in each category, of course.
The Bradley fans were gracious in defeat and very good people. Since I've been here, the only school that has brought a bigger contingent for a regular season game was UW-Madison.

Why would good shooting or being a team outside of the conference be seen as mitigating factors?

I think this thread has run it's course.
We're not discussing the title of the thread anymore.
I vote for locking it up.

In all seriousness, we are going to have to deal with Brainerd. I personally don't think he is bad, but Scott Warras is not going to be the PA Announcer for the Men's team any time soon.
Just not going to happen.

Well the main obstacle is Brainerd is under contract through the end of this year.
I thought Warras was great when he subbed in for the exhibition game.

The GO! during every single timeout promotion is obnoxious. The way he over announces every players name on the team makes him seem very amateurish. I'm not campaigning for Warras either. I just want someone who is enjoyable but isn't trying to be bigger than the action on the floor.

FTA, I'm with you on your evaluation of Brainerd. And I also think you described Warras when you said what you wanted in your public address announcer.

You have got to be kidding BP. Warras is a good fit for a women's team, and that's where he should stay.
There needs to be a certain dramatic effect when doing PA for a sporting event. Quite frankly, with the way the crowds are at the majority of the games, Brainerd's "drama" is about all you get.
Warras does Radio, radio show, and weekly TV show for the women's team. Sorry I don't care if Brainerd's contract is up next year, it won't be Warras. I don't think this is high on the Marketing Department's list either.
Brainerd may not be the best, but he's functional.
