anyone hear that Butler had a season high 19 turnovers against OSU??? Check the box score from Butler games this year. From the Butler's Mens BBall web site: The Bulldogs had 19 turnovers, several without a defender figuring in the play. No way Butler could have played a better game. They played the best game they could. No way they play this well in League games this season. Butler will be lucky to go .500 in the Horizon League.

How is Butler even relevant to this topic?
And, let's just clear this up, Butler didn't even play particularly well, much less "their best." Here is a Ohio State writer's take on the game.---------- I think you are just going to have come to grips with what Butler actually is vs. some sort of preconcieved notion. It just was wrong.

I bet they have a really good chance at winning the Horizon.

As of now, the whole "Bruce left the cupboard empty" story has expired. We've now had essentially two rebuilding years in a three year period and that's not Bruce's fault whatsoever. Any reasonable fan knew we'd struggle in the 9-22 season but to make this little progress two years later is inexcusable. All coaches make mistakes and rookie head coaches tend to make a few more. What separates Rob from Bo and Bruce is that the latter already had coaching experience and won national titles at other levels. Rob, while playing and being an asst during some successful seasons, can't compare with the first-hand experience the other two have. If Rob doesn't pan out (whenever that may be), its on Bud. I don't blame Bud for pursuing as we win some and lose some but IF Rob is let go, I'd want a coach w/ head coaching experience.
While I'm not happy with how things are going, I can't help but give Rob some slack given the recent events of his personal life. I had a good friend of mine die unexpectedly the day after Thanksgiving a few years back and I didn't really start to move past it until after the holidays. While I have no insider knowledge of it, I wouldn't be surprised if Rob is still suffering from that as its not something someone can just put on the backburner and having be the holidays has to make it just that much worse. And I don't want to hear "Oh well Favre lost his dad and looked how he played against Oakland". Not everyone deals with death the same way and you can't blame someone for not being able to do what others have done under similar circumstances.
Also for those who want him gone ASAP, did you even bother to consider the financial ramifications involved? Can we even afford to buyout his contract (and assumingly the asst. coaches' too) AND pay a whole new staff simultaneously? I hope you've got a winning lotto ticket you'd be more than happy to donate.

I agree, holic. That's why I've repeatedly said that we'll have a good idea where the program is headed at the end of this season.

On that note, many on the board may not know that Assistant Coach Bidlingmyer lost his father suddenly over a week ago. I send him my condolences. I hope all of you, even those who don't like the Coaches, join me on that thought.

Let's clarify something. I think it's wrong to say people "don't like the coaches" or "don't like Jeter", language which is seen on this board from time to time. I've never personally met Jeter or the other coaches, so I can't say I like him or hate them. I'm guessing others are in that same situation. I met Ric Cobb once during his tenure at UWM. Seemed like a great guy, but he wasn't that great a head coach.
I think it fair to say that some people, at least from an outside perspective, do not like Jeter's tenure as head coach.
So please refrain from the "don't like" language unless you know for a fact that someone does not like Rob Jeter or any of the other coaches, as people.

And for that reason I choose not to change my statement. It is my opinion that while there are some who don't like Jeter's tenure as you put it, there are also some who don't like him as a person. That's a fact...not everyone likes everyone else. So I think that fulfills your requirement. I guess I don't understand why you are getting so touchy about it.

What do you mean that Butler had 19 turnovers and no way they could have played a better game, especially since they had several "without a defender figuring in the play"? I would also like to hear your logic as to why they will be lucky to go .500. Very curious as to both. Please reply

Butler is very, very good again. If they stay away from injuries, they will win conference.
