Iowa doesn't even have a coach. If he waits for Iowa's situation to get resolved, he may find that the music has stopped and the chairs are all taken.

True but in alot of cases where a new coach is hired their are alot of people who leave the program. I wouldn't be surprised if some more schollies opened up when they hire a new coach. I am cannot think of other schools close to Cedar Rapids that isn't in the MVC. With the MVC not being a real option I think we may be in good shape if Iowa doesn't offer.

Let's put it this way: every recruit has choices to make. Nafis Ricks appears to have made a good one, though he likely will go without starting in either of his two seasons in Springfield.
Iowa faces a major rebuilding job with precious little administrative support. Here, there are some very nice surrounding pieces that include Anthony Hill, Ja' Rob McCallum, Lonnie Boga, Ryan Haggerty, by all reports Tone Boyle and potentially Mitchell Carter. Remember, Kaylon only has two more years to play.
As you suggested, he would lose his third season of eligibility if he were to transfer to another Valley school.

Off the top of my head Kaylon really only has a few options that are not in the MVC that are close or somewhat close to his hometown.
Iowa Iowa State Milwaukee Chicago schools (Chicago State, UIC, Loyola, Depaul, North Ill) Western Illinois St. Louis Nebraska Mizzou South Dakota
If he doesn't get any "major" offers I like our chances.

That means that Rivals is only aware of us recruiting him. If they know of other teams recruiting him, their logos will show up as well. If you scroll down it lists schools interested in Kaylon, what their interest level is, and whether they've offered or not. The only one right now is us with a high level of interest and an offer.

You guys realize that "Rivals" is some guy who probably hasn't been out of his basement in a month, who read this board and figured out that we had offered Kaylon, or who got an e-mail from some other mole about it?
These recruiting sites are ridiculously inaccurate.

These recruiting sites are ridiculously inaccurate. I disagree with you when it comes to Rivals. Many recruiting sites aren't real accurate, but Rivals is usually pretty good and is now owned run by Yahoo! Sports.

From Monday's (3/22) TucsonCitizen.com:
NOTES: The two other prominent Division I prospects on Logan’s roster are 6-9 power forward Andre Clark and 6-10 center Antwond Roshell. Clark is being recruited by Alabama, Cincinnati, DePaul, Iowa State, Louisiana Tech and Providence. Roshell is being recruited by one of the Cinderellas in the NCAA tournament — Northern Iowa — and also Idaho State, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, DePaul, South Alabama and Tennessee Tech. … An interesting development could involve Roshell and Perry facing each other in November if Roshell goes to Idaho State and Perry to Arizona. The Wildcats host Idaho State on Nov. 14. … Perry was a recruiting target of St. Louis coach Rick Majerus out of high school but reportedly Perry had difficulty qualifying academically. Smithpeters said Perry’s academic standing now is favorable. “From what I understand, Jesse’s doing a fantastic job in the classroom,” he said. “In my opinion, he is not a JC kid academically. He has passed every class and these are some legitimate, very tough classes. To be recruited by UCLA, you have to be a pretty sound student. He came here and has done his work. He has put himself in a position to get the chance (of playing in Division I) that he deserves.”
Roshell is originally from Milwaukee and attended Custer HS.

Any chance we would look into using one of our remaining schollies on him or are we committed to the JUCO route?
A frosh class of Kelm, Richard, Leek, and Mills would be tremendous...and it would be nice to keep him out of GB.

Welcome to the board, uwmxctf!
I suppose so. Scholarships are technically annual renewable, so we probably could work around and defer.
I do know that we are in the market for a JUCO point guard. It's no secret anymore that we want Kaylon Williams, and we want him bad. Our team looks very scary if Williams is manning the point next year.
However, we are recruiting more than just Williams, so yeah, we could probably find a way to get Mills in here.
I would be for it. I really don't want him going to Green Bay.

I hope the kid gets his release. It's just not fair for a kid in that circumstance to be held to a letter of intent. The NCAA needs to address this.
That said, I would be surprised to see him at Milwaukee. We have young bigs already who are much closer to being able to play. Our needs for next year are a strong lead guard and an athletic wing. Also, why is Mills being referred to as a forward?
