There better be a lot of students there. Give us a huge homecourt advantage

Just got back from the game; a few thoughts:
1. UWGB outplayed us. It's that simple. Too many times we shot the 3, missed, UWGB defensive rebound, they scored. 2. Rebounding, yet again didn't help us. 3. We couldn't crack their defense too well until the end with Avo. 4. Troy Cotton was a stud today. 5. Not even joking, every single UWGB fan that I saw liked like white trash. Talk about fueling a stereotype. 6. It's a rivalry, so games like this are expected. Plus, we have a bad history with UWGB on national television.
Look on the bright side: this is a down year for us, and UWGB was one of the teams expected to contend for the championship this season.
Still... what a crappy game.

Still... what a crappy game. agreed. Avo looked like butt until 3 minutes left in that game. Gentry looks like he deserves more minutes. I still can't believe how slow Thornton looked That "charge" at the end was one of the more deflating calls I've seen in awhile. If only a couple more threes went in, we win that game. I wish there was a few more passes to the post in the first half. GB is not big.

My thoughts:
1. The offense was atrocious. Nobody taking the ball to the hole, guys just passing the ball around the perimeter until five seconds left on the shot clock, then somebody launching some ridiculous three that has no chance of going in. Pathetic.
2. No rebounding whatsoever. Which begs the question: where is Skinner?
3. Cotton owned us. Did we try recruiting him? If not, why not? He was a 3-star recruit.
4. The officiating was an utter disgrace. That last call on Avo may have been the worst call I've seen since the 2005 game at Wisconsin. Unbelievable.
5. The substitution patterns are now officially driving me crazy. If anybody out there can make heads or tails of what the hell is going on, I'm all ears.
6. GREAT turnout by the students.

One more thing: only until three minutes remaining in the game did Jeter go all-out on the press. WHY? Why not incorporate it THE ENTIRE GAME? GRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got back form the game myself. Two thoughts. 1) We had way too much movement of the ball and players outside the three point ark. No inside presense of a post up at all, and when you don't really have any established shooters who can consistently deliever than we should continue to see shooting % in the 30's. 2) Absolutely no dribble penetration again. The only time we had a dribble drive was at the end of the game when Avo went to the hoop a few times, but that was because GB was guarding the ark closely. Very frustrating to watch!

I've been waiting for that for 1 1/2 seasons. It would help with this group because many of these guys are not good shooters and it would afford us other opportunities to score more points.

This is a team that needs more possessions b/c of their poor FG %. Once we turned up the heat at the end of the game, GB looked completely panicked as to how to even get the ball inbounds. This hole press the inbound then drop back makes even less sense than the substitution patterns.

I wish there was a few more passes to the post in the first half. GB is not big. It appeared that Avo was trying to play within the offense. At the end it appeared that he decided to take over open offense and that's when UWM started scoring consistently. Avo can beat anyone in the HL off the dribble and penetrate. When Avo creates UWM's offense clicks. If not for Avo the Detroit game doesn't go into OT (and not because of the last second shot). Avo is the leader on this team, he needs to have the ball in his hands. I personally think he spent too much time on the bench in the latter part of the second half. Gentry looked good. Messiah looked good. What happened to Mauldin?

Tough loss. Green Bay played very well (probably their best game all year). Their size really bothered us. Troy Cotton had an unbelievable game, and hit some shots and free throws that killed our momentum early in the second half. Evanochko was terrific.
We didn't shoot well, obviously, and that was a big problem too. And yet we were so close to turning it until that horrendous charge call on Avo. There are plenty of bad calls in every game, but rarely do you see a call so bad at such a crucial time. It literally ended the game, realistically. Call it right and it's a three point game with a minute left and Milwaukee with all the momentum. Instead, after the two technical shots, it's an eight point lead for GB. One of the worst calls in that situation that I have ever seen.
That said, again, Green Bay played a very good game and deserved to win. We did not defend as we needed to to win.
Oh, and we don't have the horses to press all game. That's a pipe dream.
Better days ahead.

One of the worst calls in that situation that I have ever seen. It actually would have been a 2 point game with 45 seconds. How did Bid and Jeter miss Cotton when they were scouting Leneal??? Argh! That kid will be a thorn in our side the next 3 years. Props to him on a hell of a game.

Jeter already goes nine deep and plattoons consistently throughout our games. Cause I'll tell you, if we don't work the ball inside through our guard play, or get someone to establish some kind of position down low, we won't win many more games unless we come up with another way to generate offense (ex: press).
