Can someone confirm whether or not that was Tim Flowers in the blue fleece pullover and Kevin Johnson with the brown hat sitting at one of the tables in the section behind the visitors basket? The one sure looked like Tim.

Cotton committed as a Junior, so you want to blame anyone, it would be Pearl. That being said, Cotton had a hell of a game and will be a real good player.
I agree with Fran and I have watched that play about 5 times on my DVR. The more I watch it, the more I keep shaking my head wondering what the Ref is looking at since it is clear Cotton is still moving.
Good game for Messiah, he continues to come up big for this team. That charge on him at the end of the first half was a tough one to swallow too.

Here's a lesson for poor man ...
Jeter on whether playing Thursday night in Detroit impacted his team:
"There are no excuses. We have another game on Monday, so we'll have to get ready for that game. It was on the schedule, we've known it from the beginning, and we did things to prepare for it. So you take things as they come. We had time to prepare."

over the last two years, the officiating today is tied for the second worse w/ UIC here last year and of course the infamous Madison game last year. i don't know how many times our guys were getting slapped/hit and yet no whistles. hell one ref refused to talk to Jeter the entire game! he's just call some b.s. foul and ignore Jeter like he's not even there. i really try to not blame the refs for losses b/c it seems like the easy way out but we had two momentum shifts killed by whistle-happy refs calling everything they could bullsh*t. i also loved how everytime a foul was called on Evans he thought it was complete crap. apparently jumping onto two guys' backs to get a rebound is legal? good luck explaining that one. besides that we really need size inside which is a real trend to our woes.
and no neither Flowers nor KJ were there.

The refs were awful, simply awful. And yes I do think they made the difference.
There was the foul on Hanson when he got hit on the mouth what was that about? Blocking the guy's arm with his teeth.
There was the foul on Franklin when he stole the ball. Both players had their backs to the ref who called it. The refs in front of the play said nothing
There was the foul called on Paulsen when one of the GB guys had his arm locked around Paige's and Paige pulled his arm away.
There was the guy who pushed Messiah out of the way to get a board. No call of course. Then we come down court and Smith puts his hand on someone and the whistle blows.
Then of course there was the call on Avo. What should've been a three point play for us turns into 2 FT's for them.
A fellow season ticket holder said he had never seen such bad reffing in the four years he's been coming.
A guy with a GB shirt on was asked how much they paid the refs. His response " I don't know but it must have been alot. They did it on national TV too."
The league should be embarrassed by this, totally embarassed.

Another solid game for Gentry. We seemed to play better when he was in, especially on D.
Great to see him come on at the end of the season. Better days ahead.

Gentry played really well today. Once he gets his shot down it can be expected he'll be one of the first guys off the bench. Thornton is a dangerous 3pt shooter, but he looked slow and lost on defense. Hopefully he gets that worked out.
I'm also correcting my above post... should have been "be accused"... that sounded weird.
Oh yeah, we finally actually had a student section today. What a concept.
Hey Holic, what did your sign say? I couldn't read it.

I wasn't expecting as many students to come for the game today...It was a very pleasant surprise but I'll give my fellow students the benefit of the doubt. The sharp increase in attendance today was due to:
First home game since the end of the winter break. (I know this is my first game in awhile since I was away for winter break)
and
GB is an in-state rival
and not
It was on ESPN2 (however I think that was a big reason)
Regardless, hopefully this good albeit unfortunate game will get more students to show support. Unfortunately there are only 2 home games left. Now THAT'S unfair pmck.

I'm expecting 50 students for the game on Monday. Bad night, bad opponent, bad attendance.

"Simon Says Transfer" - very clever 'holic, very clever.
I also find it hilarious that Tillema is so concerned about our student section. Indeed, Ryan Tillema is soft.
It kills me that the poor man has more talent on his roster than we do. The next few years will see this rivalry really heat up.

By the way, before the game I happened to notice a fellow in the stands whom I know to be the supervisor of officials for the Horizon League. I wonder what he thought of that show.
The comments on Roman are well taken. He really gave us a lift yesterday.
This team has an awful lot of talent on the perimeter. Once we get those big horses down low next year, watch out Horizon League.
Let's win on Monday.

thanks mcdade, my signs went over well with many, players, coaches, security, cameramen, etc.; pretty much everyone non-GB. also props to Jimmy for using poor man's words against him in the press conference. keep it up!

I hope that HL official noticed that after calling two questionable offensive fouls on the Panthers in the early going, the refs let a flagrant elbow by GB go uncalled. The play knocked Kaylan Anderson out of the game, which I'm pretty sure was a key in Roman Gentry's extended minutes. My worst fear about poor officiating is that the game will get out of hand and someone will get hurt as a result. That's exactly what appeared to happen yesterday. Hopefully Kaylan's injury wasn't too serious.
