as of now we might get UC-Santa Barbara, Buffalo, Northeastern, San Francisco or CS-Northridge. other potential HL matchupsSouthern Ill @ Butler Miami (OH) @ Loyola GB @ Ill State Pacific @ YSU the HL is in a mess right now as WSU is slated to face Valpo, Detroit is the 29th ranked away team and UIC is the 29th ranked home team w/ YSU one spot above UIC and UWM one spot below Detroit. hopefully every one doesn't go 1-1 this week. www.wku.edu/~cortney.basham/buster07.htm

I'm sure they won't put any HL team against Valpo since it is joining the conference next year and won't be able to have the return game. Not going to play the same team three times in one season.

i doubt it, but if we are in first or second place in conference, they may decide to televise the game.
We do play Butler before the BB game, so a long winning streak along with a little help (ok, a lot), and that could happen.

Hack - BracketBuster games are not set up as 'returnable' so Valpo could play a HL team. ESPN or whoever makes the matchups on a year to year basis. The only thing that might be classified as returnable is having a road game one year, and a home game the next (against a diff. opponent).

No, we played Manhatten, Hawaii, and SWMS as return games the following year. I can't remember who was before that.

Southern Illinois, that's it.

It is probably a practice that most schools partake in (offering the return game), but I do not believe it is mandatory. One example N. Arizona and W. Kentucky played last year and are not playing this year. I'll admit I had to look a while to find that instance though.
That is why ESPN offers up on their side the rule of home one year road the next for the Bracket Buster game. If it was written into the Bracket Buster agreement to be guaranteed a return game, ESPN wouldn't care how often a team had a Buster game at home and Hawaii would probably always get the Buster home game so ESPN could have that 11pm slot filled each year.

I will say it would make sense to have Valpo NOT play a HL team for the reasons stated above. I just want to say to my knowledge nothing would make it a definite can't happen.

it is a scheduled return game...that is how it works...it becomes a home and home series

ESPN wouldn't care how often a team had a Buster game at home, but the team would. Attendence always increases for a nationally televised game, not to mention it's a two hour advertisement for the school. Thats why it alternates.
In the case of N. Arizona and W. Kentucky, they can fulfill the other half of the contract whenever they want. It doesn't have to be the next year.

That might be true, if all 50 games were on TV. However they are not.

Either way I don't think UWM is going to get a very favorable match-up.
Buffalo? UC-Santa Barbara? CS-Northridge? Ouch. Besides one of those schools being Steve Nash's alma mater...the other one's might as well be NAIA.
