I'm not saying now. (because of his knee) But, from what Jeter has eluded to, I think he will when Conference play starts.

I think Mauldin starting is a complete joke, and I'm not afraid to say it. Give him time, but not now. Please, not now. I really wish some people here would watch what they write. If I was Maudlin and I read or heard about that I'd be offended. Saying you aren't sure or don't think someone is ready to start is one thing. Saying he's a joke if he starts is quite another.

I think Maudlin should start and play more. The only way he is going to become more comfortable is by playing. He is a big guy and takes up space in the paint. That is what we need.

I think it should be Al Hansen, Avo, Skinner, Mauldin, Paulsen as your starting 5...we need size, not 3 guards. I think Swiggett backs up al, ricky backs up Avo.

I meant it's a joke if he starts now. He's not ready to start. He is getting better, but I don't think he can start at his level now.

If players are going to read things posted on this board, they should be prepared to see and read things that might be critical of them and they should not get offended so easily. This is a discussion board and I think people should be able to state whatever they want to, however they want to. I'd be willing to bet that these guys are mentally and emotionally stronger than you're giving them credit for. I'm sure they care more about what their teammates and coaches think of them as opposed to some dude on a discussion board. I mean, come on...

Fine BrewTownBrian....leave us all your real name and address so we can all follow you around for a few days and flame the snot out of you on this board.
Maybe we can critique your work and work ethic, especially if we have no idea what your boss has asked you to do.
If you are going to flame players on the board, you should be willing to take it yourself, right?
You can be critical of players specific performances, but I think any post that is just a general attack on a player should be deleted.
"So and so just sucks" for example.
Lou? Any thoughts.

If someone wants to be critical of a player, then so be it. As long as the criticism is done in a civil fashion, like yours was, there shouldn't be a problem with it. That is one of the purposes of this board - discussion. I've been critical of Avo in the past, on this forum, and have no regrets in doing so. If he reads it, I'd hope he realizes it isn't a personal attack on him, rather my observations of his play. We can't all be smelling roses here. If we see something, we should be able to appropriately call it as we see it.

SDSU is a really bad team! UWM looked pretty bad too. When are they gonna get it together?
And I was really surprised to see Avo not starting. I like Swiggett, but why remove the 1# scorer on your team from the starting line-up? And, though not a big man, avo is 6-3. So why, on a team lacking height, would you replace a 6-3 guy for a 6-1 guy? We had 3 point guards on the court as the same time as starters? I don't understand Jeter. Is there a method to his madness? I am yet to see it work.
Why doesn't Massiah and Mauldin get more time? they are our best inside defenders along with Skinner. yet we continue to play 3 guards at most times and get owned inside. Our guards are not good enough from outside and able to take it to the basket well enough(Avo is the only guard that does take it to the basket) to be a 3 guard team.
What are you doing Jeter?

Saying someone is a joke if they start, sucks, shouldn't even think about shooting etc. does not come under the heading of civil. Getting back to the discussion of the game... I was not impressed with Hanson's play. While some guys were diving for balls, I didn't see the overall hustle I expect to see from the Panthers. I'm hoping the first five and the last four minutes are more indicative of what we can expect from this team, this year than the rest of it was.

When Sam was in the lineup the Panthers have a completely different look on defense. Plus Sam isn't afraid to pound inside on offense. I'm also impressed with Skinner's hustle to date, I think he works harder than anyone out there. Avo also appears to work hard on defense.
My "no experience as a coach and I don't really know the players personally" starting five would be:
Mauldin Skinner Smith Swigget Al Hansen

I think there's a place for Paige Paulsen in the starting lineup, as long as he's not asked to be a post player. That would mean that Sam would have to start and should play significantly more minutes. Where would those minutes come from? Start with Big Shot Al. No way does he deserve 32-33 minutes after his performance to this point. I'm fine with Avery off the bench as something of an energizer. So let's start with Paige, Mauldin, Charlie, Ricky and either Skinner or Avery, depending on matchups. Massiah has been rock-solid in relief and Roman and Ryan need to get more opportunities to develop their games.

Dude, I threw no flames so I'm not sure why you're coming at me. You cannot have my real name and address either. I guess my point was that I think the players can handle, and have probably read/seen/heard things, more critical than things posted on this board. If you want to "flame the snot out of me" on this board...go ahead...I'd simply stop reading it. Plus I don't know you, therefore don't care THAT much about your thoughts or feelings toward me. Similar to how I would think the players care more about what those closest to them think, not a bunch of fans on a discussion board.
