Some goals: 1. Get a W even if its just by 1 point. 2. Ricky scores 6 points. Roman scores 4. Ryan scores 3. 3. Charlie Swiggett gets cleared to play. 4. A leader develops on the team (maybe its a freshman?). 5. Work on Hackpanther's UGLY shot.

Freak to just throw something in there about your leadership comment, I thought Ricky did a good job of that last night. I know he didn't shoot too well, but he was definitely in control of the team out there. It seemed like he was the only one delegating match ups, as well as calling together team huddles, and just a general poise out on the court.

i agree. lets just build from the Parkside game\. Its a long season ahead, and we obviously have much room for improvement. It;s about peaking at the right time.

I hear a couple of people on here just hoping to get a win against Edgewood? Seriously? you'd be happy with just a win? I think the goal is to come out as an entirely different team...to demolish Edgewood!

raar, as much as I've been trying to advocate patience and support, I think you're right on the money here. A proper mind set for our team, ie dedication to playing with energy, grit and determination, should carry the Panthers to a solid victory. Hopefully RJ has taken every opportunity since the end of the Parkside fiasco to remind the team that this is Milwaukee basketball, so they'd better be ready to dig in and do the kind of work that hung all those banners in the Cell.

I think we struggle early and then pull away down the stretch. This early in the season I do not feel we have quite yet come together to dominate even a D3 team. It is sad to say but we win on talent alone and its a building block for the rest of the season. I think this team is a work in progress. I saw some good on Wed night and alot of bad but the bad can be corrected.

I want to see a couple things tonight during the game....
Consistent ball entries into the post. This will be key as the season wears, our guards are going to be key contributors, and the post needs to open up some shots. Even if our bigs aren't constantly looking to score, just free up that wing jumper!
Also I would love to see someone step up, take control of this team, and be a leader. Points wise and mentally. I know Al didn't play much, and would have normally been on the floor, but tomorrow I would really like to see someone take the flow of the game to a whole new level.
Lets get a Panther W!

Franklin scores 14 to lead four players in double figures
Nov. 6, 2006
MILWAUKEE - Ricky Franklin scored 14 points to lead four players in double figures as the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee claimed a 77-53 win over Edgewood College Monday night in an exhibition contest at the U.S. Cellular Arena.
After playing 14 different players in the first half, the Panthers trimmed their rotation early in the second half, scoring 24 of the first 26 points to turn the game into a rout.
Avery Smith added 13 points while Allan Hanson and Paige Paulsen contributed 11 points apiece to lead Milwaukee, which outrebounded Edgewood 54-34 and held the Eagles to just 31.4 percent shooting from the field.
Chris DeMarco led Edgewood with 24 points, though he scored 14 of his points from the free throw line as the Eagles made 20 free throws but just 16 field goals.
"In the first half, we continued to give people opportunities and test out combinations," UWM head coach Rob Jeter said. "In the second half, we started settling in on some people and some combinations that will work for us.
"It's not a work of art yet - it's not a masterpiece. It is a process. "
UWM scored 17-straight points early in the second half, sparked by seven points from Paulsen, and then pushed the lead to 55-34 following five-straight points from Ryan Thornton. UWM eventually led by as many as 26 points and never let Edgewood closer than 16 points the rest of the way. The big second half came after the Panthers led 33-31 at the half. UWM jumped out to a 21-10 lead early in the half but the Eagles fought back by making 12-of-18 free throws and pushing the Panthers into foul trouble.
"The effort is certainly there but the execution was a little sloppy," Jeter said of his team's defense efforts. "The defensive end is definitely where I am looking at this team first."
The Panthers now turn their attention to the regular season, which begins Friday when UWM hosts the John Thompson Classic at the U.S. Cellular Arena. The Panthers will face three stiff tests, with Radford the opponent Friday, Washington State the opposition Saturday and UAB on the schedule for Sunday.
