Boo and Maybe Ed, If I do not recall Ed represented UWM decently in the College Slam dunk contest... and there were some others that were to note...
Joah was ok McCoy had a little bit of hops.. Wimmer a joke, and Rob sanders was an exciting dunker to name a few to jog your memory...

if Jeter truly believed a dunk contest was the quintessential event to persuade a prospect, i'm pretty sure he could've successfully lobbied it. something tells me his 2 cents would have significant sway. i would assume other things like a raucous crowd, fireworks/pyrotechnics and celebrity appearances would impress a prospect more than a dunk contest.

This better not mean that awful comedian will be there again. His "short bus" routine was funny like 5 years ago. ;D

I'm sorry if this has already been noted, but I heard that the men were going to scrimmage the women......

That would be somewhat unfair, I'd think. Here's what the website says...
"The event will include UWM's regularly-scheduled volleyball match with Butler, a number of fan contests and giveaways, plus scrimmages involving both the Panther men's and women's basketball teams."
Not sure if that means 2 scrimmages. One for the guys and one for the ladies. It could also mean a mixed scrimmage. Guys and girls on the same team...that would actually be interesting, I think.

I'm just telling you what I heard........take it for what it is worth. Maybe you will have your dunk contest after all. ;D

Cool...that's what you heard.
I can kind of see why they would do somthing like that. Both teams play, but how hard? Not hard enough to cause an injury to themselves or anyone else I'd bet.
With the rather limited number of bigs...an injury would not be good.

"Both the men and women will take part in a scrimmage." www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=508151looking back, i can't remember if Jason said the scrimmage was coed or not. if its coed, i'm going to be really pissed.

I'd be shocked if the women played with the men. UIC's been doing scrimmages for as long as I can remember....usually, the girls come out first and play for 10-15 minutes, then the men do the same.
I don't know why you guys are complaining. You're just asking for an injury with a dunk contest. And these scrimmages, if they're anything like UIC scrimmages, will very much lack defense. I'm not talking AND-1 level, but there will be some showboating....

I agree that we don't really need to have a dunk contest. This way I will enjoy it that much more when Franklin dunks on Mayo at the cell in January.

This better not mean that awful comedian will be there again. His "short bus" routine was funny like 5 years ago. ;D I thought they'd get the picture about the comedians not being a part of this after last year's debacle. Can you imagine trying to convince your fence sitting friends to come to a Midnight Madness celebration by saying "hey theres gonna be a comedian (not named Cook, Seinfeld, Chapelle, or Rock)." You don't come to a pep rally to laugh. The dunk contest truly sells this thing. Last year's dunk contest wasn't the greatest, but it didn't suck. The problem was the layover before it. It was an hour after we were told it would start before they came out. The crowd was out of it and without a big name participating, the interest had drained. Does anyone else remember Milt wearing a coonskin cap and hugging the player (Ed?) after the dunk? If we're trying to get some freshmen into the seats, they need glitz and glamour. If I had to criticize one thing about the presentation of Panther basketball it was this last year. High schools do it better. Sorry, rant over

Good. While I think it would be cool to see them on the same time, you could always just go to the Klotsche Center and check out that action.
I'm stoked, although I would like to see a dunk contest, I think I can get over it.
For instance, I was once on a team with Wimmer, Meredith Onson, and Michael. Michael: leading scorer, amazing how many of his half court shots go in...something like 3 or 4 in 10. Needless to say, we won the game. Michael also led the game in most saliva launched per minute.
