With the non-con schedule close to finalized, what record (and how much hype) do you seen us taking into the conference schedule? Do we suprise people, or fall on our face?

WSU-W Radford-W UAB-W, they don't scare me as much as they probably should. @mich-L, I fear we could lose by 40 and if that happens it could affect the whole season. @northern Iowa-L SDSU-W Tenn Tech-W @ CMU-W @oakland-W @missouri State-L @wisc-L Wyoming-W
This is 8-4 without the TBA game which hopefully will be easy so i guess 9-4. Plus I think we will go 12-4 in the conference and probably lose the bracketbuster game since it is away. My pick for the year is 21-9. I know that was the record of last years team but I expect us to be really good at the end of the year. I just have a good feeling about this team.

I think the UAB, and Wyoming games will go the other way. Tenn Tech is a toss up.

i think we stand a good chance against TN Tech and an ok chance against Wyoming. each of those teams lose valuable starters and 1 key bench player. we won't blow out WY like last year but we should at least put up a good fight. i'm pretty sure we'll lose to UAB although if their star recruit Jeremy Mayfield doesn't qualify, that'll help a lot. that game should be interesting as they also lose 7 seniors (3 starters and 3 key contributors) as well as learning a coaching philosophy that's dramatically different than Mike Anderson's.

Is Squeaky Johnson still at UAB this year?

Tennessee Tech is a handful at their place, but dust in the wind away.
Northern Iowa lost a lot this year, not just Jacobsen and McDermott...don't count that as a loss so easily.
I think a bigger loss could come AT Wisconsin than against Michigan...Kamm Taylor is a beast and we won't have another arena record performance like Boo Davis' 7 Threepointers.
Oakland and Central Michigan should be wins, but who knows...anyone have their home records from the past 3 years?

UNI also has an impressive recruiting class including the class 2A POY in Kerwin Dunham, and a 7' center who avg. 25.5 ppg, 14 rebs and 4.5 bpg. they also have Adam Koch from Ashwaubenon coming in as well. not to mention that'll be their home opener in a brand new arena which will have the crowd as rowdy as ever.

I think we may take some lumps early on as the team gets its act together. It could be like last year's women's team. They had a brutal non-conference season but once HL play started they took off.

You guys are a lot more optomistic about this season than I am! Let's face it, we're going to have a very inexperienced team with no real go-to leader/scorer at this point. Can we do pretty well this year in the conference? Sure, look at GB last year, but no way will we see a 20-win team IMO. It's going to take some time for everyone to be on the same page, and hopefully we'll have the talent to compete in the Horizon. I guess I'm just not much of an optimist. T

I guess that I'm having real trouble understanding this notion that the team will lack a go-to scorer or leader. How do any of us, fans and rivals alike, know what the season holds for UWM. After all, few of us have ever seen any of the current players in a high school, prep school or juco game or practice. Perhaps there's even a player on the radar that no one knows about who will help the team significantly. Someone said that he was looking forward to watching the team develop and mature over the course of the season. That, in my mind, is the only reasonable "expectation" at this point.

How do any of us, fans and rivals alike, know what the season holds for UWM. After all, few of us have ever seen any of the current players in a high school, prep school or juco game or practice. We don't. I guess the statement "few of us have ever seen any of the current players in a high school, prep school or juco game or practice." can be looked at 2 ways. 1) if we've never seen any of the current players play/practice then they must not be THAT good. Otherwise even a semi-alert basketball fan would have seen someone play/practice. Or 2) if we've never seen any of the current players play/practice, then maybe we're all in for a huge surprise when it comes to talent level and the fact that we haven't seen any of them play/practice is because we're not as aware as we originally thought. Personally, I think it's going to be a learning-experience season with a lot of growing pains and bumps in the road. Hopefully the pains are not too painful and the bumps not to large, I'd prefer to be pleasantly surprised.
