OR... He gets interviewed, ISU determined he is too inexperienced and the buyout clause is too steep for the hire. Of course Rob spins it like he made the choice to stay in Milwaukee, what else can you do. With an opportunity to jump to the Big-12 and double the salary, it seem more likely that he simply was not offered the job. Of course I want to believe he chose us. Very possible but unlikely. The AD doesn't travel to WI without having a pretty good idea that he wants Jeter. They don't hammer out details into the night while thinking Jeter may be too inexperienced for the job. If ISU thought Jeter wasn't the man for the job they would have determined that very early on. But who knows, none of us were there.

Jeter Staying Put As Head Basketball Coach In Milwaukee Looking forward to second season at UWM (uwmpanthers.com) March 21, 2006
MILWAUKEE - Rob Jeter has announced he will remain the head men's basketball coach at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Jeter had interviewed for the vacant Iowa State head coaching position on Monday.
"Over the last couple of days, I've really been able to reaffirm the fact that I am with working great people and under great leadership here in Milwaukee," Jeter said. "With Athletic Director Bud Haidet and Chancellor Carlos Santiago, I know our program and our University is in good hands. I was not looking for a job, but I am flattered by the interest a Big 12 program like Iowa State showed in me. Yet, it also helped me to realize just how happy I am in Milwaukee. There is no question a commitment exists here to continue to compete at a high level, and I am excited to be a part of it."
Jeter just completed his first season with the Panthers, leading Milwaukee to a 22-9 record and a win in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
