Any idea as to why Butler was turned down?

IF UWM were to move to the MVC, that could be the huge boost the baseball program needs to finally get upgraded facilities.

personally id love to get in the valley but it may be a pipe dream. again, all rumor and speculation but i think that with the strength and all the pub for the valley this year theyre not adding anyone before 07 and i know thats when we're talking about but ive heard that WKU is interested and 'next on the list' if you will to join the valley. WKU would make much more sense than UWM and depending on next season (basketball that is) we'll see how we compete in the horizon league

A big influx of cash to upgrade facilities would have to appear for us to move to the MVC. I have been to a few MVC campus's (Wichita St, Indiana St, Northern Iowa), and their facilities are bigger and better. Henry Aaron Field would not cut it for baseball, that is for sure. We also would probably have to expand the athletic program as a whole, i.e., add other sports. I think the HL is about the best you can expect unless a few Sugar Daddy donors appear.

If this move was made, I would really love for Butler to be a part of it. It'd be great to keep that rivalry alive.

Seeing as this isn't a "pipe dream," I'm sure Bud is investigating all avenues and options. By the way, Butler isn't the only school being floated as a moving partner. The other one makes great sense geographically and exposure-wise.

Hmmm could the MVC be trying to do what the Big East did, except do it with mid-majors?

Hmmm could the MVC be trying to do what the Big East did, except do it with mid-majors? Wouldn't that be perfect?

In the next 2 years the MVC will not inculde butler, UWM, wright state, and WKU. Correct, but it may include UWM and UIC.

Will UWM be invited after next season if we can't even compete for a horizon league title? After losing our seniors, I see that as a possibility.

You don't judge a program based on one or two seasons. With that as a barometer, Marquette should have been denied admission into the Big East after 2003-04 and 2004-05.

Right, but MU kept their coach and had a promising recruiting class. What does UWM have right now? What is promising about the future? What recruit is going to play for a school where the coach will pack up and leave for the first job opportunity he gets? This is a dark day for UWM.
