They just showed Freeway. Good Lord. haha speaking of Freeway i sat 3 rows behind him tonight. if the rumors of him getting hit by a bus are true, he definitely showed why tonight. i felt bad for the two couples that sat behind him and the family who sat next to him during the game. the family left in the first half (or relocated) and the other couples moved about 3 rows back so they could see past his constant standing. gamewise, man was it good to see us remember how to shoot 3 pointers. not only Boo but Joah and Tyrone too!!! the fact that Tyrone's barely moved the net was flabergasting (sp?). sucks we couldn't score 100 and it seemed like the refs packed it in w/ a few mins. left on our side but oh well. i'm content w/ winning by 41. my favorite part from the box score was this: Largest lead-YSU by 1 1st-17:50, UWM by 47 2nd-04:44

what a totally satisfying win last night. you could hear Milwaukee saying to the league, "we're back, we're pissed, and you sure as hell don't want to play us!" finally we saw what this team is capable of doing. and remember, this is a YSU team that gave us trouble at their place with lights out shooting from a few guys. the most heartening thing to see was this team NEVER backed down from start to finish. even the bench kept up the intensity. you could really see the focus. hopefully this is the start of our last win streak going deep into march! also cool to see Terry Stotts in the house. i think James Wright was working him for a spot on the practice squad .

It was a fun game to watch.
I'm not sure what happened in terms of fouls. Were we not getting the fouls inside the paint or were they just not as physical?
Speaking of getting the calls, a source inside the AD said that the refs for the UWM-Wright State game were officially reprimanded by the HL after UWM complained about being jobbed there.
The source also says that the League was concerned enough to send officials to the UWM-Butler game. Hmmm could be the refs were sending a message back to us at that game and/or it could be that's why fouls started to be called on BU after that time out towards the end of the second half.
Can anyone who was there say whether or not said officials conferred with the refs?

At halftime, I was in the media room, and Bill Johnson came in and said this: "That was the best half of basketball they've played all year long."
Even after the game, people were just beaming. Players, coaches, info people, it just washed the bad taste of last week right the hell out of everyone's collective mouths.

I was sitting right by freeway also. He should get a free ticket in the student section just so he doesn't scare away people like that. (Bud?) He doesn't mix well with families. He's much more enteraining from a distance.

Hey Milwsport, you are correct, let's just say the the coaching staff was less than happy with the fact that Phil Bova reffed the WSU and Butler game. Speaking of Freeway, he came up me and my friend while we were getting beers at halftime. Here is how the dialog went: Freeway: Just announced, UWM at Cleveland State on channel 41 at 4:30 Me: No response Freeway: Will Chis Paul win the rookie of the year award over Andrew Bogut? Me: Freeway, can you believe Sidney Crosby got left off the the Canadian National team? Freeway looks at me bewildered and just walks away. Yep, that's right folks, if you ever want Freeway to stop talking to you, just start talking about Hockey

My encounters w/ Freeway:
I was part of FOCUS at UWM. We included getting a picture of Freeway in a scavenger hunt. One team actually found him and got pictures with him at a gas station on Humboldt.
My rents live in Cudahy and I lived with them for a bit while I went to school. We both wound up on the same bus (15 route) one night. I swear he was hitting on me. It was almost more awkward than one night staring at a drag queen that looked hot and got off on National and KK or whatever street turns into KK from downtown--maybe 2nd. (cause I didn't get dude was a drag queen til he got off the bus when I immediately threw up in my mouth)
Playing ball behind the dorms one day...both courts pretty packed with teams waiting for next and Freeway's on the court against my team. Loose ball, we both go for it, I wind up on the pavement, he holds the ball in his hand, puts his other hand straight up in the air, and yells, "Charge, charge, charge!" while pointing at me with the hand holding the ball. Everyone waiting and playing on my team laughs while I'm tempted to just punch him.
Entertaining dude for real...scary dude to see at a Milwaukee sporting event though.

I have had several encounters with Freeway, all at UWM games except one baseball game against the Yankees last year. We won. booya.
Thursday:
Freeway: What about Butler?
Me: What about those douchebags?
Freeway: What about the Butler Bulldogs. Will the Butler Bulldogs win the Horizon League Championship?
Me: Hell no! We'll beat Butler!
Freeway: What about Marquette? What about the Marquette Golden Eagles?
Me: We'd kick their ass.
Freeway: Marquette versus Milwaukee in the NCAA Tournament.
Me: We will kick their ass!
Freeway: What about the top-ranked Duke Blue Devils?
Me: We'll win if they come play here!
Freeway: You think so?
I was so surprised. He actually responded to what I said. Then Freeway walks away.

I wasn't that was my obviously failed attempt at impersonating Freeway on the internet. Since I haven't spoken w/that cat in a long time I tried to use something relevent not directed at you.
My last conversation w/Freeway included:
What do you think about Emmit (Smith)?
What do you think about the Bucks, Ray Allen, and Sam Cassell selfish?
I also used to run into him all the time when I lived by Tracks usually on or waiting for the bus. Sometimes I would run into him at like 3 in morning I was coming home from work and he would be wondering around; strange cat pretty much harmless.
