with all the 3s they took in the game last year, I think limiting second-chance opportunities off long rebounds could be an important aspect of today's game. If we can do that and get a hand in their shooter's faces, that should help keep the score down.

BTW, weren't Hawaii's sports teams just the Rainbows until the homophobia kicked in a few years ago? I think the Rainbow Warrior was the name of a ship Greenpeace owned that was sunk by the French government years ago.

I think the Rainbow Warrior was the name of a ship Greenpeace owned that was sunk by the French government years ago. i could be wrong but i actually think the nickname change had to do w/ the football coach June Jones. he wanted a more intimidating nickname (who isn't afraid of rainbows?) and lobbied the school to change the football team to the Warriors. i believe they compromised w/ the other sports teams and had them be the Rainbow Warriors. like i said i'm not certain of this but i thought i heard that a few years back when i was watching a Hawaii football game.

Meija has Hawaii winning 84-77 ... I don't see Hawaii scoring 80+ points against UWM's defense. Defense? Since when did we get one of those? And I think they changed their name because they wanted to share nicknames with Jeff Gordon's pit crew. I tell you NASCAR is taking over.

They scored 84 against Michigan St, (granted, in Maui which is essentially a home game) a team that typically prides itself on its defense and rebounding.
Personally, I think our defense hasn't been too great that year. Memphis scored 79 and TT scored 72, but could have easily scored more had they hit any free throws in the second half.
Regardless, I don't think we can give up more than low 70's and win. We haven't shown the O to win these types of games yet.
Slow start will definitely not be a good thing.

Hawaii has always been the Rainbow Warriors.
A few years ago, when "the homophobia kicked in", They voted to subtract the Rainbow from the name, and they were just the "Warriors" for a few years. Either 2 or 3 years ago, With Warriors being a very generic, althrough strong, nickname, they decided to retract their name change, becoming the "Rainbow Warriors" once again.

Looks like a good start so far?
Anyone have update other than 21-15 2:27 in the first half?

44-35 Milwaukee 8:40 in the 2nd half...really low scoring game. I'm relegated to listening to the Hawaii radio play-by -play on the net since for some reason the uwmpanther.com CSTV AllAccess feed is telling me the game hasn't started yet There's $6.95 well spent.

55-52 0:56 remaining. This is not the way to close out a game, especially at home!

Whew! The panthers prevail 58-52 after some seriously out of character free throw shooting problems, especially by Chris Hill of all people. Game was capped off by a nice dunk from Boo Davis. And yeah, what the hell happenned at the end?

Good win for us, while I am not one to complain for free services. I was quite disapointed by the "shuttle" service tonight. I had a group of at least 20 people going to the game tonight with me, we showed up at the union at 6:40(I wanted to go earier but most of the group had to finish off their drinks) and we waited along with maybe 30 other people for the bus to arrive. After 45 mins. of waiting(and sobering up) we got tired of waiting and along with most of the other people there left. I finally made my way down town and caught most of the second half with what was little left of my group. I am glad that we won, but let this be a warning. DO NOT SHOW UP LATER THAN 30 MINS BEFORE A GAME AND EXPECT TO CATCH THE SHUTTLE!
