Here’s my random thoughts:
1. Officiating was horrible. I though the HL officials sucked, but whoever these guys were… they stunk on ice. The constant carrying calls, suspect offensive calls, and off-the-ball fouls really hampered the flow of the game, IMO. Not that they affected the outcome, it was just irritating to watch.
2. When we get doubled in the post as much as we did last night, there are going to be plenty of open shots from the perimeter. As nice as it was to see Boo making his open shots, imagine how much more dangerous we would be if we had just one more significant outside threat. (Kevin Massiah, perhaps?)
3. AT seems to be pressing just a bit inside, and I think that’s a large factor in his missed lay-ups. He seems to hurry his shot somewhat, instead of getting proper position first. If we are still seeing this in January, I will be worried, but I expect him to continue to gain comfort inside.
4. I agree with dylanrocks (I hate when that happens!) – Tyrone Young looked rusty. A few of his shots looked downright UGLY! I was encouraged by the fact that he got some PT in the 1st half, as he must be doing something right in practice to warrant that.
5. Still not sure what McCoy’s role on this team is yet. I don’t remember who said that he could play effectively inside, but I sure haven’t seen it yet. If he could simply establish some decent post position, I think he would be a greater factor, but I just don’t know.
6. Overall, a good win. We should have won by 20+, and we did. Nice to see us playing a solid second half for the second game in a row. It’s probably too early to say yet, but it does seem like we are making good adjustments and improvements at half.
