Don't worry about AT, he's the least of our concerns IMO. He's going to be the most consistent offens on our team unless Joah sticks to his game. So he had an off night, at least he wasn't taking bad shots.
One of the best players ever to play at UWM missed a freakin bunny one night too. He's doing OK. Don't get on AT for missing some easy shots...it happens.
What we really need is for another offensive threat (looks like that'll be Massiah or Avery this year) to step up for the nights that one of our main offensive threats is having an off night.

Hell has frozen over (no surprise with these temperatures) ...
Derrick Ford caught a pass and dunked.

Boring game. The first half was tough to watch. Second half was not too bad.
Against Hawaii we better be hot in the first half, or be prepared for a whooping!
Later, UWMfreak

I'm not that worried... they're getting better every game.
Massiah is getting more PT and seems to be improving. Young played pretty bad, but at least got some minutes in. Hopefully he'll get better as the season progresses.
I'm still optimistic.

This game went much as a expected. We beat a team we should have by 20+ by 20+, we played a sloppy game against a inferior opponet, our two best players (offensive) played like it. I dont think there really was much from a fans point of view to take from the game. I just know the team needs to put together two decent halves to beat Hawaii and two good halves to beat Wisconsin. It was nice to see Young to get some minutes that meant something in the first half, but at the end of the game I dont know if he was trying to prove something or if Jeter told him to just go and play freely, but he sure looked bad. Would not mind seeing Wimmer getting some more playing time. That guy can shoot and we need some more pure shooters right now to open up the middle for AT and Tucker.

Smith look good, Massiah looked okay, Young looked bad. Pancratz did his usual throwing himself all over the place and getting results, Tucker got his shots and actually hit a couple of threes, Boo was awesome in the second half.
I agree with Sutton, we are deeper and we wore them down.

I don't think Young played that badly given that he really hadn't seen any court time in the last three weeks. It was a chance for him to shake some rust off while playing a few meaningful minutes. Wimmer didn't do anything to earn more playing time. If anything, he earned less tonight. Just an honest appraisal. He's 14th in the rotation.

There were others out there who also don't get much playing time who looked much better than Young did. Although he did have a nice sweet shot.

dylan
Your right about Wimmer, I just have a soft spot in my heart for white guys that can shoot and well...nothing else since that was what my game consisted of.
However, Young on the other hand did look bad. I think someone mentioned it earlier that he had a hard time just handling the ball. He took poor shoots and missed them badly. I dont think he looked bad on the defensive end, infact I dont think he as played all the bad of defense all season (some he will disagree), but honestly he was brought in to be an offensive threat and I dont see it so far. I hope like hell he pulls it together and the sooner the better becuase it looks like we will need all the weapons we can get come conference games.

Teddy, he hasn't been an offensive threat because he didn't buy into the team defensive concept. This is what chiefly kept him on the bench. I'm told that his offensive skill set in practice is absolutely off the charts. He needs confidence in game situations, time that he must earn by giving full effort in practice. I think what you saw tonight was rust.

I think the O looked better tonight, free throw shooting was poor in the first half. But all in all a good win, keep the momentum going...Hawaii and Wisconsin
Who else thinks that Exams shouldn't be held on the 16th so that I could goto the game and study?

the only thing overall that reflected poorly on Young was his 2 TOs. however 4 pts. 2 rebs. 2 steals and a block in 6 mins. is MUCH better than i thought he'd do considering his lack of playing time. compare this to what he did vs. TTU & Upper IA COMBINED: 9 mins., 2 pts., 1 steal. i'd say he had a good night.

nice outing by the panthers. to handle a team on the road is always impressive, even if it's a team they're supposed to beat by 20. what impressed me most was the hustle and the little things they did. we saw an effective press, good defensive movement, and most promising - continued strides in the half court sets. time and time again they made the extra pass and you really saw it pay off last night. great passes in the lane and great passes to the perimeter. when it's fully integrated it's gonna be very difficult to stop.
i was also happy to see Young get some minutes. it was easily his best performance of the season thus far. he finally looked more confident on defense, which has undoubtably been his major weakness, and we also got a glimpse of his offensive potential. just wait until he starts seeing some real minutes and gets into the game flow. it'll take a while but he'll get there. Massiah and Smith continue to look for real. there's no doubt we have some real depth. and kudos to Ford... catching passes and smoothly finishing?! you'd really like to see him contribute some meaningful minutes this season.
