After the game Rob Jeter did not allow the players to talk to Pearl and the rest of the staff that was here. Pearl was going to wait but Jeter told him to not stick around, Pearl obliged and left without saying a word to the team who he guided to the 2005 Sweet 16...And then Rob Jeter has gone back to Madison since hes been coach to talk to some Badger players..this is very disturbing to me that they are not so far from Knoxville and Pearl makes the effort to come over and he gets shut out by Jeter....

I would like to hear more to this before I judge. The timing probably wasn't the greatest (a tough defeat and another poor shooting performance) and the fact that Rob has to make this "his" team, not Bruce's team.

good for Coach Jeter. if Pearl wanted to hang out with his players he could have stayed on as coach at Milwaukee for triple his salary. i don't blame him for leaving, still love him as a coach, but the way he did it was slimy. this year's team has got to move on from last season. Pearl can afford to fly out in the off season and catch up with his old team.

Pearl can afford to fly out in the off season and catch up with his old team. Doesn't he have a plane to do that in? lol probably since the Fball team won't be going anywhere this year. Had Jeter invited Pearl to the game and then denied him afterwards i'd see it as unfair but since Pearl & Co. came on their own decision w/ no guarantees of a post-game talk, jeter can't really be at fault. this is his team now, not Pearl's. i'm willing to bet Pearl still has the players phone #s if he really wants to talk to them.

Its the simple fact that he made the initiative and the players wanted to do and were told directly not to...this team was meshed together just fine till Jeter started with his guidelines which no one on the team respects, this only added to the resentment that most of the players have towards Jeter

this only added to the resentment that most of the players have towards Jeter Ok, now you're guessing. Please tell me where you got this information. Every player I have talked to has told me that they respect Coach Jeter, not resent him.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.

unless you're inside of each of the player's heads, i'm not sure how you can make judgement calls on what they may or may not think of our coach. i'm guessing they resent being abandoned by their coach before getting home from the tourney much more than they resent Jeter's "guidelines." again, that would be guessing.
this isn't last year's team. ed, james, and rob are gone and many new faces are in the mix. like it or not, we've moved on.

like it or not, we've moved on. Well, as evidenced by some of the posts on the board today, some of us have not.

Do you think that perhaps Coach Jeter had a good reason for not allowing Bruce to talk to any of the players and told him not to wait.
Here's how I picture what happened in that locker room: a way to go on getting back into the game late and excellent free throw shooting, a chewing out for very poor execution of the gameplan especially early, a complaint about the amount of turnovers in a game with a pretty mild tempo.
Do you think the players would have really absorbed the post game comments by the coach if they were looking forward to chatting about the old times with their old coach?
I give Jeter props for making this decision.
And I'm pretty sure that Pearl has or could easily get the numbers of any players he wished to talk to.

Great move by Jeter.
Guys, are we Panther fans or Pearl fans here? He's gone... he left. He deserted his team, full of seniors, and I think his presence was probably a distraction for those guys.

My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with a girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious. Easily one of the most hilarious retorts I have seen on this board. Classic! I dont like to hear comments about what others think and or feel without some sort of a very solid source, which I have yet to hear from. I also dont like the idea propogated on this board that the current team resents their leadership. I find that very hard to believe. I for one am finally off the Pearl Bus, it took awhile, but I am on the Jeter Jet and like it or not, this is our team. I was not very happy with the first two losses this year with such high expectations and a great amount of return players. In any event I will pretty much disregard this story until I hear both sides. Cheerio Panthers, tay,p,
