Alright. Five days to sit on this TT loss. I hope the over/under on this game isn't something like 41...
If you are frustrated with the style of ball UWM is playing right now wait until you see Soderberg's crap.

Great to see a lot of discussion on the board tonight. Let's get the black and gold out in force on Saturday for Rob's first win against a D1 school.
Friends don't let friends go to a Bucks game over a Panthers game!
GO PANTHERS

Let's get this thread rolling with some positive discussion such as forget the TT game and how to attack SLU. A big rowdy crowd should help get the team off to a quick start unlike previous games this year.

I'll definetly be there. My sister went to SLU, so I needs my bragging rights. BTW -Billiken was a charm doll created by an American art teacher and illustrator, Ms. Florence Pretz of Kansas City, Missouri, who is said to have seen the mysterious figure in a dream. In 1908 she patented Billiken who was elf-like with pointed ears, a mischievous smile, and a tuft a hair on his pointed head. His arms were short and he was generally sitting with his legs stretched out in front of him. Billiken was one of the first copyrighted dolls and the first likenesses of Billiken, banks and statues, were produced in 1909.
As with many fad toys, Billiken enjoyed only a few brief years of popularity before fading into obscurity. However, the Billiken became the athletic mascot of Saint Louis University during the height of his popularity. The school's athletic teams remain the Billikens to this day.
The most famous representation of Billiken was in an amusement park, Lunar Park, in the Shinsekai district of Osaka, Japan. In 1912, he was enshrined in the park as a symbol of Americana and there was revered as "The God of Things As They Ought to Be". He was so popular at one time that he was considered to be another god of luck in addition to the traditional seven Japanese gods of luck. Popular Billiken souvenirs included dolls and manju (sweet buns filled with red paste). When the park closed in 1923, the wooden statue of Billiken went missing.
A replica of the statue was placed in the second-generation Tsutenkaku Tower in 1980. Presently he resides on the fifth floor observation deck and has become closely associated with the tower. Each year thousands of visitors place a coin in his donation box and rub the soles of his well-worn feet to make their wishes come true.
Billiken was a star in Sakamoto Junji's 1996 comedy Billiken in which the statue is restored to the Tsutenkaku in an effort to revive the popularity of the tower and save Shinsekai.
Billiken should not be confused with baby-like Kewpie figures that debuted in December 1909 Ladies' Home Journal.

Since we have had a bad start to every game so far (even UIU) does anyone else think that maybe it is time to move McCoy to the bench and start Smith or Messiah? I think back to last year when we switched to the 3 guard lineup at Butler and things really came together after that. I missed the beginning of the TT game, so if this or something similar has already occurred, somebody punch me in the nuts.

Starting fast is the key..we have yet to set the tempo for the game at the tip. I think its key we come up with some stands and some quick easy baskets to get some sort of confidence...but then again that would be strategy for any team who wants to win

there's no question that McCoy was most effective coming off the bench. he and Pancratz provided that great defensive intensity and occasional buckets. we'd just need that third guard to be a serious scoring threat like Boo was in that role. not sure who it would be this year.

This should be an excellent opportunity for us to see how we respond to another team really trying to impose their style upon us.

Light reading on the Billikens.. www.usatoday.com/sports/college/mensbasketball/atlantic10/stlouis.htmThis will be a nice measuring stick of where we are, Hawaii hammerred them tonight's game vs. S. Illinois should be interesting to see how they react after such a loss. Very young team need to put them away early, as with most young teams don't allow them to hang around and gain confidence.

St Louis doesn't have the best talent around, but they have one of the best coaches in college buckets. They will give the Panthers all they can handle.
