i noticed the same thing on the press. there were a number of times when they had Platteville pinned off the inbound but inexplicably let up after that. i don't know if they just weren't going all out on it last night but i found it very strange.

I saw that too. All I can say is that I hope we get it together by next Tuesday. I also hope Tyrone Young finds his way with the offense. He's a good kid.

First off, Zorro rules... A few notes, adding to what has already been said about last night: 1. Rebounding flat out SUCKED. I don't care how well Platteville played, there is no reason to be outrebounded by 10. 2. It seemed to me (especially in the 1st half) that we were very rigid in the half court offense. Not sure if that was due to the coaches putting emphasis on the offense, or if players were just confused out there. I hope the former. 3. Tyrone Young looked confused. I hope that he is simply needing some more time in the offense, and that he will develop, but add me to the list of those concerned. 4. I think the reason why we saw a softer press was simply because we are not planning to press Memphis much, if at all. 5. Nice hands on the T-shirt toss Fenske. Yeah, I saw that. 6. I am the leader of the Avery Smith fan club. He sure looked great.

btw, glad to see they revised that shirt to put a claw on there that actually looked capable of making those scratch marks! it's no BIMHB but not bad.

To red shirt Avery or not that is the question... His play last night was a breath of fresh air compared to the play of the other guards, but really its only one game. Kaylan was barely even given the chance to get his butt of the bench after (what I thought) was a very good game against Parkside. Its all up to RJ, but I'd still give Avery the red shirt. I think Avery is a better 1 than 2 so having 3 point guards in our 10 man rotation would leave us lacking at shoot guard depth. I think Kaylan is a better rebounder and I like his 6'5" height at the 2. With Tyrone Young not showing much I think Kaylan is a great insurance policy.

1. It seems that I am not the only one who is drooling over Avery Smith. In fact my claims last night were that he was the best player playing last night.
2. Count me as worried. Very Worried.
3. The press has always seemed like a gimmick to me that only works against inferior teams. I think Jeter only has it in there to appease people.
4. I don't think a freshman class has ever been this receptive to basketball. So many of them. Big kudos to them.

Lou, I know you are getting old, and the eye sight is fleeting... So, in case the precription needs a renewal, you should have noticed that it wasn't I who could not catch the shirt.... it was indeed the guy to my left, yes, it would be your right. Not to worry, I punched him in the face and gouged his eyes for not catching the last and only shirt I will even have an opportunity to catch this season. I think the hard hat would have caught the shirt.
