I am tired. So very tired of the blamimg of Bruce Pearl.
Whatever happen only resulted in a one year post season suspension and two year reduction of scholarships. You would think a program would bounce back sooner. They didn't. It took longer. So now they blame Pearl. Fine.
Boo him on Thursday and get over it. But for heaven's sake let it go.
If you don't let it go it will kill you when UWM wins.
If Illinois wins will it heal you? I doubt it. Let it go. There are more important things.

Well, win or lose, you have already lost.
Some Major college has-been or wanna be is going to offer Pearl a whole lot more money that UWN can pay. and, like Bo before him, you will be jilted and fade temporarily or not into mid-major oblivion.

"Were you listening to The Dude's story, Donny?"
"What?"
"Were you listening to The Dude's story?"
"I was bowling."
"So you have no frame of reference here, Donny. You're like a child who wanders into the middle of a movie and wants to know..."

If and when Pearl leaves UWM for a better job I wish him well.
It would be stupid not to thank him for what he has done here.
I thought when Bo Ryan left we were doomed. Not that I blamed Ryan for leave. But I was wrong.
I would rather have Bruce leave with the program doing well then have to fire a coach because he did a poor job.

when Bo left we faded into mid-major oblivion??? seems to me we've done alright for ourselves since Bo left. and believe it or not, there's a lot of great coaches out there and UWM's potential caoching vacancy just became a whole lot more attractive to those guys waiting to make their mark. i think we'll be just fine. by getting to the Sweet 16 we've ALREADY WON!

For all relevant purposes, UWM has already won, no matter what happens in Thursday's game. Even if Pearl leaves down the road, we still will have won. He brought us to the Sweet 16. UWM has nothing to lose going into this game, Illinois has everything to lose.

Yeah, but it's still a lousy feeling. It happened to us with Bill $elfish, whose Kansas weakhawks just lost to MIGHTY Bucknell.
Too bad. ;D

I still question Self's move because it was apparant that Illinois was going to be strong these past two years, without immediate expectations of a national title ... not saying that Illinois doesn't want a national title.
Kansas wants one now in the worst way.

Here's a story on CBS Sportsline that calls for the same thing. It really shows the truth behind the whole thing. I don't know if it's been posted yet, but with a whole page of new posts coming daily, it's hard to keep up with this board. www.sportsline.com/collegebasketball/story/8317194It really shows the truth of what happened. What Pearl turned Illinois in for was not what they were penalized for. That allegation was proven false, but the NCAA investigation that followed found more problems in the program which they were penalized for. The odd thing is that while Pearl was the good guy behind all of this, he became a pariah while Lou Henson was still highly regarded as a coach. In other words, the good guy went down while the "bad" guy still had a lot of respect. So don't think that Pearl lost a lot himself in all of this. I'll be honest with all of you as well, right now. Entering this tournament, I did not know whether I wanted to support UW-Milwaukee or not. While they were a fellow Wisconsin team, I was sick of them. I hated it that they were successful where UW-Green Bay was not, but I felt that UW-Green Bay deserved more than they got. For now, I see UW-Milwaukee as truly the better team. Also, I have really seen the truth behind Bruce Pearl in the last few weeks. Sometimes I think that the best coaches are the ones that have everything in place not just in basketball, but in life. They understand the game well, but also understand the most important things in life. I also take a little comfort in the fact that UW-Green Bay is the only team to beat UW-Milwaukee in the last 20 games. Unfortunately, while UW-Milwaukee kept going up from there, that ended up being UW-Green Bay's high point of the season. They got one more very good win on the road at UIC, but that was the last of it. It really looks like UW-Milwaukee is set for a while with their personnel. Only three players are graduating, and only one of them is a starter. That means that they could do this again next season as long as someone steps in and puts up the points that he is. Anyway, I will still be supporting UW-Milwaukee on Thursday, and it's good that it's an earlier game. I always go bowling on Thursday nights, and the game should be over before I leave for that. Unfortunately, I don't know if ESPN and CBS want UW-Milwaukee to win. Here's another story on ESPN about that. sports.espn.go.com/ncb/ncaatourney05/news/story?id=2018990Anyway, that's all I have to say here. I hope that the Panthers go out there and win, or at least make it a close game against Illinois. The way the tournament has played out so far, it should be a good one.

Good post, and it's always nice to see the Horizon League doing things, no matter your alleigances.
Yes, Illinois fans are extremely bitter towards Bruce while almost giving everyone else involved a free pass, but that's their problem. And what do you expect? These people could see a Cubs/Chi Sox World Series and find something to complain about.
Good to see one more has been caught up in the Movement.
