I just love how everyone on both sides of this stops reading up on the subject once they find someone who wrote something they WANT to hear.. and they proclaim it as the end-all truth...

I agree...but that's their choice. I'm a lurking Illini fan who wanted to see what they were saying...can't say I found anything other than what I expected.

Ok, well, maybe that's true. Maybe that's what I did. So, I want to be fair. I'd like to hear the side of Illinois of how things happened, though.
As far as I can tell, here are the basic facts. Bruce Pearl taped a conversation with a recruit that said that Jimmy Collins offered money and a car if he came to Illinois. The allegation was proven false, but the investigation found other recruiting violations. As a result, Illinois was placed on probation. Illinois went into a slump as a result, and most people involved in the whole affair had their reputations tarnished for a long time.
What's the Illinois' fan view on this? I still admit that what Pearl did might have been wrong, but he had his own problems as a result of that. The program should not have committed those violations. Pearl just ended up being the scapegoat. However, if I'm wrong, tell me the truth behind it.
