We're really sucking it up. This team fouls too much. Ed is playing another horrid game. He has to pick up for Wisconsin or we'll be crushed.
J Tucker is MVP for the HL, not Ed this year.

your right about the fouls, seems like teams are in the bonus very early, at least we seem to be hitting our free throws now, hope i didnt just jinx us with 3 min to go. Lets do this thing.

Crappy game. We have yet to bring our "A game". Ed needs to start stepping up and play like we know he can. With his shots going down against UIC and St. Louis we would have two more blow outs. He has entirely lost his shot. Like I said before, Joah is the Conference MVP this season.
Good win however. Bring on Valpo! Should be a blow out...then on to Wisconsin.

I still believe that ANY win on the road is a good win. Way to go Panthers.

The fouls in this game were rediculous and ED was cold but we still win on the road by ten. You cant really complain. Nice to see Joah play good and AT was on before he got in foul trouble. Valpo should be an easy win I just hope we can come together and peak for the Wisco game. GB played em better than i thought so I think beating Wisconsin is a definite possibility.

This is my first post, although I've been reading the board for quite awhile now.
I was actually at the game tonight. I must say I was the ONLY panther fan there. I just moved down to st. louis after graduating last year so it was my first time to actually see the team this year.
First of all, the game started out great. We got a couple of steals and AT was nabbing every board. But after that it just got ugly. Ed had a horrible night. I thought after he hit two 3's in a row he would come back to life, but he didn't make a 3 after that after throwing up countless tries. The whole team couldn't make a basket, except for Tucker. He was really strong on the inside and had some great moves. He had an awesome ally-oop dunk too in the second half.
St. Louis played good defense and didn't really allow us to get the ball inside much and forced us to take a lot of outside shots. Our 3-point percentage hasn't been all that strong this year, and it was terrible again tonight. It really helped that St. Louis couldn't make a shot either. We played pretty strong D, but they've been having problems all year with not being able to get the ball in the basket. The fans around me were getting pretty restless how once again, there shots weren't falling.
One final point, what's the deal with Derrick Ford? It was my first time seeing him play tonight and he didn't do much. He got two feeds in a row underneath the basket and wasn't even close on converting either of them. Shortly after that, BP took him out and he barely even played the second half. It's nice to have a guy that big below, but it seems like all he's done so far this year is foul. Think he might see less minutes in the future?
A win on the road is still impressive not matter what, but hopefully we’ll bring or A game for the next match-ups. The environment down here wasn’t very loud to play in, but it sure will be at Wisconsin and Kansas.

Thanks for the info, 04. We are playing C+ to B- ball and winning games! This team has the feeling that it will do whatever it takes in the LAST FOUR MINUTES to get the job done. We can close out games. This is the most exciting thing about this team this year. I feel confident that if we have a lead late, we will get the W.

Any road win we can get is a good win. Just gotta start clickin as a team a little more and we'll be golden. It's nice that we play UW and Kansas later in the season as opposed to right away. Hopefully as milt said, well peak at the right time.

I have to agree that a road win is a good win. We did get into foul trouble a bit here, but the fact that scoring was the way it was just goes to show how deep we are and that we are a team. Ed had a slow game, but Joah really stepped up this game and did a great job.
Mad props for the Panthers tonight!
Bring on Valpo

A win is a win especially when its on the road. But if were going to compete we need to compete at our level. Playing like that will not get us past Wi or Kansas or maybe even Purdue. Im worried about Manhattan. I know its far ahead.
Had St. Louis played better it might be a different story. This is the time to recognize that we are a deep team and that is what keeps up in games when players like Ed do not produce.

First of all, this is a big win for us. At first blush, it may appear that a win over a 1-4 team is not big deal, but like I said before, we had a lot to lose in this game. Given all the other games in the state last night, if we would have lost, we would have suffered greatly with respect to coverage, not to mention have people talking about losing to a "poor" team. IMHO St. Louis will get it together and be a decent squad. Do I think they will be great? No, but they will win some big games. Also, since they are in CUSA, they will eventually help our RPI out simply by the schedule they play. Overall, this game was big on a bunch of different levels, not the least of which is simply confidence on the road. On to the game, what's up with Ford? Tony said after the game that DF was "not in the game" and went on to say that he is used to playing in JC where he can take games off, but at this level he has to bring it every night. I hope that DF just had a "bad" game and that there are not any more serious issues at hand. Ed will get it together, not a doubt in my mind. If the team can stay on track until then, I don't even think it is a problem. Joah - playing like an MVP, nothing else to say. The bench, as a whole, may be the most pleasant surprise. We all knew that we would be deep, but the bench is directly responsible for both of the last wins - each time someone has stepped up and picked up slack and made big plays at key times. AT - another solid performance. Two guys that IMO are having an awesome start to the season are James and Chris. To a point, we all knew what Chris could do, but he has really stepped up his game and is contributing some great minutes. He can score when needed, but the way he runs the team, pushes the ball, distributes the ball, etc. should not go unnoticed. James - it is a well know fact that he is not going to scortch you on the offensive end, but he is playing some great ball. He is an aggressive defender and rebounder who gives people fits. IMO his energy (deflections, boards, physical play) is very important to us. He was a major factor in the UIC game - not scoring, but mixing it up with Armond. Hansen - wow, pleasant surprise. Thanks for the write up Panther04, and welcome to the board. Kingsbury, if you saw the lines open up early at St. Louis by 1, you should have been all over that, or at least told your buddies to get all over it (pawn some stuff, whatever), that is as good of a line as UWM is going to get - especially if we keep winning. We are not going to be "under the radar" for much longer. haha
