this game has me a little nervous. when i first saw it on the schedule i immediately said it's a loss. from what i've heard they're traditionally a very tough team to beat at home (granted that's true for most any decent D-1 team). but from the way they've started with losses to Oral Roberts, Austin Peay, and Eastern Michigan i'm starting to wonder if this is one we really SHOULD win. no way i would have said that before. Oral Roberts will be solid this year and took them by 1 point in St Louis. i'm surprised by the other losses. anyone have insight into how we match up relative to those other teams that beat them?
btw, it's a shame this one isn't on tv. let's hope with continued success a couple of these games that should be on get picked up.

I agree that this is a nerve racking game. It is great that our program can say that we expect to beat St. Loius on the road, but its going to be tough. Really scared about this game.

Having watched Brad Soderberg coach, I'm not concerned about St. Louis and what they do, but what Bruce and the boys do. This game needs to have the same mindset as Air Force. Slow down, lots of cutting and more patience.

UWM has a better roster right now, but SLU is well coached and has played in tough games. I'm concerned that after such an intense, emotional game as Saturday's, and with a few votes trickling in in the polls, it might be very hard to concentrate on this game.
Bruce needs to work really hard to keep the team's focus for this game.

BBfran, I agree entirely. I even thought that with the South Dakota game. St Louis despite having a poor record is not that bad of a team. We need to show up with our best game...and finally Ed needs to have a quality game! Later, UWMfreak

it's certainly time for Ed to have an "Ed" kind of game. it would be nice to have him at his best on this road trip. but i think the encouraging thing we're seeing from this team is they don't necessarily need him to do it night in and out. it's a testament to our depth.

Even if we keep playing the way we have been with ed scoring lower than usual I think we have a great chance against the billikens. However, i am very nervous about this road game bc i check the attendence for their home games and in the last two games they had 7000 people listed. not to mention the size of this place looks intimidating. Something that could factor in tomarrow. slubillikens.collegesports.com/school-bio/stlo-facilities-mbaskbl.htmlIn addition to reporting a good atendence the billikens have a very good home record in nine seasons. 116-41 (.739) Something we will have to prepare for. And then there is the fact that this will be the first game the panthers have played with out their home crowd cheering for them. Hopefully Ed will bring his A game. Other than that, on paper the Panthers are a better team, even with Ed only having an average of 15 points per game, however, tucker and tigert have really good stats and have proven they can step up when ed only scores 5 points per game. Im also excited to see if ford and mccoy will be able to put some double digits either both of them or between them. Seeing how Sanders wont be playing McCoy will have more oppertunities to be the big man when Sanders is out. They are 1-4. Losing to teams who do not seem like they are good but those teams St Louis lost to all have winning records. Losing to Eastern Michigan (3-1), Oral Roberts (4-0) Oral roberts who beat Loy Chi, and Hawaii (4-0) St Louis's only win this year comes from Troy. Troy. Troy has won 1 game this year against yup you guessed it Piedmont. Piedmont. Where do people come up with these names. We are inbetween two big teams. After Hawaii and right before Gonzaga. If i was them i would most likly spend most of my practice time thinking about Gonzaga. possible over look. I do not think that St Louis will over look us, i just think more of their practice time will be dedicated to an away game against the Zags.

I am a bit nervous about the game game tonight. I think that St. Louis is a dangerous team, especially at home. Their record is poor, but their losses have been close, for the most part (against decent teams). If we win this game, everyone will say that we should have won because St. Louis is like 1-5 or whatever, but if they put it together and we lose, we will lose some of the "hype" and media attention/momentum that we are starting to build - at the end of the day, this is a dangerous game for UWM.

When you have only won one game, you don't "skip" anyone and practice for the next game. I am sure that they are spending every moment in practice preparing for the next game - which in this case is UWM - not to mention the fact that UWM is starting to make a little bit of noise on a national level. It is also important to remember that their coach (Soderberg) is a Wisconsin guy - I am sure that he would like to beat UWM in a bad way. Believe me, St. Loius will be ready to play tonight. When you are losing, every win is a big win. In their eyes, things are only going to get harder during the conference season, so they need to get the W's now.

I agree completley with you panther30. Soderberg being a madison guy is going to want this win, not only for that reason, but he needs to get his team going. St. Loius has never been a "bad" team, and he's not going to want to start the season with that poor of a record. I'll be on edge all day.

For what it is worth, in case anyone is interested, most "places" have us as a 2 point favorite.....and cbssportsline has us by 4.

Early lines this morning were 1-1/2 to 2, now it's more in the 2-1/2 to 3 range. Mejia's selection... UWM 66, SLU 62.
My prediction...
UWM 68 SLU 60
And oh ya, before I forget...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY PNTHR30
